Outlaws to Invade LGR!
By Mike Babicz

(Lake Geneva, Wis., Saturday, July 1, 2006)-“The asphalt outlaws are coming” is the cry heard following the official announcement of a monumental event coming to Lake Geneva Raceway.

Promoter Kevin Dawson announced at the Friday, June 30 show that a first time ever event will be held on Thursday, August 3 with the Ultimate Racing Spectacular featuring the HOSS asphalt outlaw sprint car winged warriors, the stars and cars of the Midwestern traveling Big 8 Late Model Stock Car Series and the LGR weapons division stock cars.

“This show will feature the best of both worlds when it comes to asphalt racing,” Dawson said. “The lightening fast winged outlaw sprint cars and their exciting side by side open wheel action along with the up and coming stars of late model racing, both on the same card.”

“We’re excited to be able to bring this unique, first time combination, to our fans during our Checkered Flag Season,” Dawson said.  “This will be a first, last and only time the asphalt sprint cars will appear at our facility as we prepare to bring it to a close following 44 years of continuous operation.”

“We had Tim Cox of Park City come out and take the Ultimate Lap Challenge a few weeks ago, and the fan response was overwhelming.  They wanted to see Tim come back with a full field of his racing friends,” Dawson said. “The people have spoken, so the asphalt outlaw sprint car warriors will come to Lake Geneva Raceway.”

The one-third mile semi-banked asphalt oval is part of an overall facility that includes a off road course, competitive go kart track, public go kart track, stadium motocross course and a restaurant/bar.  The entire complex has been sold to a developer and will become a housing development after the season ends in the fall.

Reduced price advance tickets will be available at the Raceway on race nights only beginning Friday and Saturday, July 14 and 15.  For the latest updated information go to www.lakegenevaraceway.com or phone the trackside hotline 262-248-8566.
