Track Announcer To Marry, All Part of the Final Classic!

(Lake Geneva, Wis.,  September 28, 2006) -  The news last spring was the fact that after 43 years Lake Geneva Raceway would close it’s gates after the 2006. Until that day the raceway would continue to provide top notch family entertainment in
the form of stock car racing. A few weeks ago, an all top crowd came out for the last weekly show which featured a trailer race.

Starting Thursday night September 28th. the four day race show will begin, running through Sunday October 1st. Another first would take place on that Sunday afternoon as Saturday night track announcer Mike Babicz will marry his long time friend, Cathy Langren at raceway at 12:30 pm.

Going back to Thursday there will be loads of family fun events, with lots of spectator participation, starting at 7:30 pm..Children under 8 are again free with a parent admission. Spectator admission for that night will be just $5 and juniors $3.An entire weekend pass is just $25 for adults, juniors $12.Parking will be free.

On Friday over 12 divisions of small cars will compete, with four classes having their championships, with all in a tight points battle. Time trials begin at 6pm.racing at 7:30.Admission will be $10 for adults and $5 for juniors.

Starting on Saturday at 2 pm. over 300 different race cars will time in. Then at 6pm. races begin. Adults will be just $13 and juniors only $6. On Sunday after the marriage has been completed. An afternoon of last chance and feature action will take place, starting at 1pm. Adults are only $16 and juniors just $8.

Just entered in the super late model division is Jeremy Lepak in the Jerry Gunderman race car. Jeremy won the Sunday afternoon 200 lap feature for the CRA race cars at Rockford. Multi time champion Conrad Morgan and his son Donavan Morgan are entered. In the Big 8 series points leader Jeremy Miller and second place Ricky Bilderback will be racing, along with Michael Bilderback. The new BOSS outlaw sprints will compete for the first time, with  Tim Cox, the 2005 HOSS championship, heading the list.

 

Veteran Kenny Olson, along with Scott ”Chico” Riedner who took second in the area sportsman race last weekend. The winner Fred Nason will also be here, all racing in the super street stocks. Just entered is another top driver Scott Lawver.

 

The LGR regulars will also be racing in their selected divisions. Sonny Schoffen the champion in the late models ,will compete in the BIG 8 and the super late models in the Chuck Schneider race car. Eddie May the super late model champion, will be
up against a lot of super late models. Adam Regnier the super atock champion here, will compete in the street stocks.

 

The first appearance of the area modifieds will pit paved track drivers against dirt track regulars. The Wisconsin mini sport
trucks will run two complete shows both Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. The Mid American championship is up for grabs with James Swan and George Schultz in a dead heat for the title, with LGR and LaCrosse to go. The pure stocks
will include the championship for the 4 cylinders, as Steve Doherty of Rockford, Illinois the points leader. The new 8 cylinder group includes enduro and weapons cars that raced at LGR for the 2006 season.
