Another Rainy Night
at LGR Couldn't Stop Josh Wallace First Career Win!

Geneva, WI.

The Saturday night weekly race program at Lake Geneva raceway went
on despite rain in the area and at the track. 17 year old Josh
Wallace of Pell Lake,a third generation driver won his first career
40 lap super late model feature race. Adam Regnier of Twin Lakes won
his first 25 lap feature for the McHenry Limousine super stocks of
the season. Erik Pierce of Lake in the Hills, Illinois won his third
25 lap feature for the Performance Unlimited sportsman cars and Ken
Jones of Lomard,IL. made a three lap to go pass to win the 20 lap
feature for the super mini cup race cars.
Veteran driver
Don Collins moved in front of the super late model field, with
Kenny Joosten,Mike Gunderson and Josh Wallace putting on the
pressure. With just five laps in, the first Yellow Book USA caution
period was thrown after RickCorso and Jeff Holmgren Jr. made
contact.Holmgren’s night was over with serious damage to his mount.
Corso came back before the green came out. When the green reappeared
not even a lap was completed, after a melee in the field. On the
next re-start Collins walked out front for two laps, before Wallace
slipped in front. Collins didn’t let that move stand, as it was a
see/saw battle for three laps even thou Wallace was the leader at
the line. Landry Potter moved into third, with Jamie Wallace next.
Visiting Bobby Gash
spun on lap sixteen, stopping the great race. With the next green
displayed Wallace had Potter, Collins, Jamie Wallace and Jason Hicks
to contend with. Four laps later Terry Patnode joined the fray, as
did quick timer Mike Meyerhofer, as things got real tight at the
top. Wallace went on to win the event, just in front of Potter,
Jamie Wallace, Collins, Hicks and Randy Rodgers who were under a
blanket, in this barn burner.
For the second week in a row the super stock feature was a rough and
tumble event, plagued caution periods. Dan Huber shot out front of
the race with 14 year old Tyler Peterson was second with Daryl
Traber, Craig Mertes and Shane Sapp
right behind him. Lap seven Peterson and Traber got together for the
first caution. Before another lap could be completed, two more
incidents happened. Then for some unknown reason, the leader flew
into the pits with problems, returning just in time for the next
green.
Sapp was now the
leader, with Adam Regnier knocking on the door. Tom Roney was next,
with Joe DeCubellis and Ken Eisbrenner looking at that top spot. On
lap eleven Regnier caught the leader and two laps later after a
great side by side race, the lead changed. On Lap eighteen someone
dumped fuild all the way around the track. After a lengthy clean up,
Regnier moved out front and never looked back for the win. Sapp held
onto second with Roney just in front of fast timer Jack Rubach,
Eisbrenner and Scott Norton.
The sportsman feature was fast and furious as Mike Smart took the
lead at the off set of the race. Point leader John Janssen briefly
held the lead for one lap. Erik Pierce seemed to come out of no
where and took the lead on lap five. Brothers
Mike and Kenny Smart joined together in a racing incident. Three
laps later Todd Stoner and Cliff Adee got together and another
caution came. On the next restart Bobby Giers was now second. Until
the next caution Giers and Janssen were in
tussle for that runner up position. On lap seventeen Giers spun
while running second. On the restart Pierce still had the upper
hand, but second was up for grabs as Janssen and now Kenny Smart
were at it. It the finish it was Pierce the winner, with Smart
second, Janssen third, with Gary Norton in the only true Ford
fourth, Mike Smart next and Stoner sixth.
The super mini cup feature saw only one caution period as Alex
Tordizerski paced the field for the first six laps of the close
event. Before and unknown driver moved in front until lap eighteen,
when Ken Jones worked his way into the front
spot for the win, despite Jeff Myers, fast qualifier Mick Ellis,
Andy Forester, Tordizerski and Doug Juhrend all there at the finish
for a great exciting race.

combined 13th. annual motorsports show and 29th. annual BARS “let’s
