By Dale R. Erdmann

May 20, 2006;  Lake Geneva, WI. - It was a big night at Lake Geneva Raceway Saturday night as the ASA northern series and the Lynch Motors “pot of gold” show came to the raceway. Jeremy Spoonmore all the way up from Somonauk, Illinois
won the 40 lap Lynch Motors sportsman special and walked away with $1000 for his efforts. The super stock feature never ran, due to rain on lap 56 of the ASA feature race. The rain shortened ASA 56 lap feature was won by veteran driver
Eddie Hoffman out of Illinois.

Super Stock fast time honors went to Scott Norton.

The sportsman feature started the top eighteen qualifiers with Danny Powell
leading the first lap, before Mike Smart moved in front. Jeremy Spoonmore
was already third, then second by lap six. On lap eight the leader got very
wide and Spoonmore and Bobby Giers flew by. Just alittle farther back thing were real close as Gary Norton, Erik Pierce and Adam Mass were trying to advance. John Senerchia joined this group by lap nineteen, as the crowd saw quite the show.

The only Yellow Book USA caution period came on lap twenty nine, when Rick Rowlett blew the engine, causing most of the field to spin around with oil all over turn three. On the restart Bill Prietzel, Pierce Senerchia were all over the leader, who proceeded to walk the field. From time to time Pierce would get around Prietzel, but no one would come close to challenge the leader. With just five laps to go and something happened  to Pierce, dropping from third to fifth very quickly. Spoonmore went on to win the event, with Prietzel just ahead of Senerchia, Giers, Pierce and James Swan for just a great race.

The other vintage car group were here with quick timer John Vaash of Racine the feature race winner.

Next Saturday night R A Adams Enterpirses of McHenry,IL.will present trailer races along with a full race show. Time trials begin at 5:45 pm.Racing is slated for 7 pm.
