The fans got a sneak preview of the long jump for cars competition that will be part of the Tour of Destruction this Friday night.

Michael Kruschke moved in front of the super late model main event with Ron Stoehr, Earl Counter and Mike Meyerhofer next. Within four laps Counter had worked his way into the lead, with Eddie May now fifth. Two laps later May had moved up to second with just one more lap in and the lead changed hands, as May took over the top spot with 32 laps to go. Quickly points leader Kent Burkoth followed the new leader with Counter feeling the pressure from Jamie Wallace.

After lap twenty was completed it was May, by just inches ahead of Burkoth, then Wallace, Meyerhofer and Jeff Holmgren Jr. and Counter. On lap twenty one the first Yellow Book USA caution period began, as  Rick Corso and Rob Summers tangled in turn three. Five laps after the restart, Kruschke got onto the wall riding high at nearly full throttle, until the wall ran out, as Michael landed off of turn three when the dist finally quit. With just one lap to go, Jeff Way and Corso got together stopping the race for the final time. May went on to win the race with Wallace right on his tail, Burkoth was third, with Holmgren next, Meyerhofer was fifth and Counter sixth.

The super stock feature brought Ken Eisbrenner in front at the drop of the green flag. Joe DeCubellis was second until fast qualifier Scott Norton came by. On lap nine the only Yellow Book USA caution came out, as Joe DeCubellis had problems, then stalled in turn one. As the next green came out Eisbrenner went in front and never looked back for the win. Fast timer Adam Regnier was second, with Mike Gunderson third, Norton was fourth, Jack Rubach fifth and Daryl Traber sixth in a very close event.

John Janssen darted out front of the sportsman feature with with John Fischer second for two laps before Gary Norton moved by for one lap. Then Fischer, came right back again. Fred Boal spun on lap nine bringing the race to a stop. On the restart Janssen headed for the pits with overheating problems. Fischer became the leader, before Kenny Joosten came up and over took the leader on lap eleven and won the race just ahead of quick qualifier Kenny Smart.
