Cyndi Krause drove Ashleigh Kitterman's car to victory in a BIC heat and
semi- feature.

With just three points shows left for the legend cars, Lokemoen holds a slim 95 point lead over defending champion Curt Gnatzig, with Ernie Schaal just 115 behind and Michael Bilderback 125 out of first. In the INEX bandolero cars,Michael Cooter from Machesney Park, Illinois won his third 15 lap feature of the season. In the Double R towing Basic International cars, Bob Koch of McHenry,IL. won his sixth.15 lap feature of the season.

Daryl Traber of Waterford the Midwest Enduro Promoter and former champion came out for the first time and took a clean sweep of the first year, weapons class.Daryl took fast time, won the dash and the 15 lap championship feature. The divisions first champion will be Reid Kahrs Jr. of West Allis, finishing just 35 points in front of a growing field of cars.

The Lusia’s pizzeria mini modified feature for 15 laps went to Chris Thomazin of Elkhorn, his first career win in this division and for the fifth week in a row Kip Novotny of Johnsburg,IL. took a clean sweep of rascal outlaws action. Kip had fast time, won his heat and the 15 lap feature.

The bandolero feature started off nearly a carbon copy of their last time here, with Kyle Palma charging out front from his second row inside starting spot. Rookie Ryan Milligan was second until lap three, when Michael Cooter came along side  and into the second spot. Quickly fast qualifier Branden Allen inched past Milligan and the top fourth were glued together. Cooter worked on Palma for the next four laps before creeping into the lead, going on to win the race, despite numerous challenges by Palma trying to regain the top spot. Before the checkered Kyle Justis put the pressure on Allen and even got by him on occasion before time ran out. Cooter came across the line in first with Palma at his back side,Allen was third, with Justis at his side, Milligan fifth and another rookie Andy Luebke sixth in a close race.

Joe Scala moved in front of the legends feature at the drop of the double greens. Don Schaal was second with his son Ernie Schaal next.Something happened to Scala as he washed out coming off turn two and Ernie Schaal used the problem to his advantage, shooting into the lead on lap two. Out of no where Eric Lokemoen was instantly third, then second, as Schaal had no time to run away and hide.

The chase was great, as both drivers held their own line, until Lokemoen snuck along side on lap seven and two laps later there was a new leader.Right behind these two, Curt Gnatzig and Michael Bilderback in a Speedway auto mall race car, due to his devastating accident at Charlotte in a National event last weekend. His own race car barreled rolled six and one half time down the front stretch and was totally demolished, but Michael escaped any injury to himself in the incident. Scala was right there too as the top five were tight. Lokemoen went on to win the feature with Schaal, just ahead of Gnatzig,Bilderback was fourth, with Don Schaal nipping Scala at the line and Hermann Greinig right at his side next,in another great race.

The weapons division championship feature race brought Roger VanBurgen in front of the thirteen car field, with Jay Lebrun second and Reid Kahrs Jr. third. Things changed quite quickly as Daryl Traber moved from row six to second, then in front on lap four. Three laps later Jerry Grey forged his way in front and never looked back for the win. David Grenlund the fast qualifier was third, with Duane Lounsbuny fourth and Andy Krueger fifth. A post race inspectaion changed a few positions, as Grey the winner was dropped from the finish along with Lounsbuny.Everyone moved up and Traber became the winner.

The mini modified feature got off to a very rocky start as the first lap was trying to be completed. First Glen Vernezze flew off turn three and out came the Yellow Book USA caution period. In the melee Jerry Giuliano somehow got onto the infield and ran head on into the large tire protecting the power supply and concrete abutment. He was not injuried but the race car was. Both drivers never returned to the complete restart. Chris Thomazin shot in front of the field and despite a caution on lap seven,he held onto the lead for the win, with quick timer Mike VanHouten second, Chris’s Father Curt was third, Bill Trusky fourth, Phil Schultz fifth and Barry Trusky in his best finish of the season sixth.

Earlier in the program Cindy Krause of Burlington filled in for her Daughter Ashleigh Kitterman who was injured last week during an incident in a BIC heat when she hit the wall.Cindy went on to win the first heat and the second semi, which put her into the feature where she placed sixteenth.Burlington competitor Amanda Wolfe had a bad night, during the running of the second BIC heat, while running fifth, Amanda got pushed into the wall coming off turn two. She was not injured, but her number 17S received damage. Cindy races a super stock on Saturdays.

The coming Friday night marks the end of weekly racing.Time trials begin at 6pm.with racing one and one half hours later. There will be no other championships until later in the season. The bandoleros and legends will be on September 10th. with a raindate of the 17th.The LGR late models will be the 24th.
