May Survives Long Night at LGR, Six Wins for Regnier, Schoffen Hot!

July 30, 2005;  Lake Geneva, WI. - The second largest crowd of the season came out Saturday night at Lake Geneva Raceway. Eddie May of Crystal Lake, Illinois won his second Budweiser super late model feature in a row,surviving the long drawn out event plagued by numerous Yello Book USA caution period and the one hour and three minutes to run the event. Adam Regnier of Twin Lakes won his sixth feature of the season and Sonny Schoffen of Crystal Lake,IL. won the late model feature for 25  laps. Mike Gunderson of Wind Lake had a great night in his new late model race car. Mike finished second in the semi feature, which gave him a chance to run the feature where he finished seventh.

Jeff Lorenz grabbed the lead in the super late model feature .Jeff Way, Rick Corso and Joe Fischer were next. The first caution came on lap six when Fischer went around. Four laps later the leader spun and the race stopped again. On the restart Eddie May out ran everyone to the corner and took over the lead. Lap twelve Jerry Mueller and Denny
Hiffman made contact after a few laps of incidents. The next four cautions came between the next four laps. Each time May drove out front and never looked back.

By lap twenty Landry Potter was inside the leader, drawing even on numerous occasions. This continued for the next ten laps,with quick qualifier Kent Burkoth next. on lap thirty one, everyone got a scare as Corso’s mount started on fire, but went out before the mount was stopped. One lap later the fire started again and Corso’s night was over. The final nine laps were caution free, as May held on for the win. Potter never let up but settled for second. Burkoth was third, with Jamie Artelt fourth and Fischer fifth.

Josh Wallace racing double duty tonight moved in front of the super stock feature from his pole starting position. By lap five Adam Regnier was knocking on the door and a new leader ensued one lap later. The only caution came on lap ten when
rookie Jamie Starks spun.After that moment, the race was for second, as Mike Gunderson was the first to try to chase down the leader, before fast time qualifier Scott Norton took over second on lap thirteen, but the chase came close at the wire
as Regnier pulled off another win, with Norton second, Gunderson was third, Ken Eisbrenner fourth and Tom Roney fifth.

Carrie Dygon drove out front of the late model feature with Paul Edmundson at her side. Keith Tolf snuck the middle and held the lead one lap before Sonny Schoffen took over and never looked back for the win. Points leader Josh Wallace
was second, with Brian Ulrich, Ralph Gentile and Tolf were next in the non stop event.

Saturday night August 6th.the future drivers of NASCAR will be here in a full race program of racing. Local favorites Al Schill, LGR points leader Jamie  Wallace and 2004 LGR co champion Randy Rodgers will also be here for 150 lap “Al Schill Jr” memorial race for the Auto zone, NASCAR touring elite series. The LGR late models and super stocks will also race. Time trials begin At 5:45 with racing at 7pm.sharp.
