Toff Ross scored a clean sweep of the Sport Truck division. He is shown with Lynch Motors representative, Trish Hernandez.

In racing competition Kent Burkoth of nearby Pell Lake won his first super late model 40 lap feature of the season. Second generation driver Tom Roney of Ridgefield, Illinois has raced for 5 years and finally won his first feature of his career in the McHenry Limousine super stocks during the 25 lap non stop event.

The big story about Tom is he came out to put some time on his new engine and blew the motor. They quickly went back to Ridgefield, put in the old engine, got back in time to qualify, win a heat and then lead lead every lap for the win. Todd Ross of Grayslake,IL. took a clean sweep in Midwest sport truck action, after taking fast time, winning the heat and 15 lap feature. Jeremy Spoonmore of Somonauk, IL. won the 35 lap MidAmerican feature. The race program was sponsored by Lynch Motors of Burlington.

Shane Bishop moved in front of the super late model field as the feature race began. Dave Thomas was second, with Mark Hartline in his first appearance of the season third and Rick Corson fourth. Lap three was the first Yellow book USA caution period as Corso and Thomas tangled. One lap later Chuck Duncan spun for the next slowdown. Finally underway again, Bishop led the race one more time, with Vincent Merry and Kent Burkoth right on his bumper. On lap nine Burkoth was looking for the lead and gained it before the lap ended. On lap fifteen Eddie May and Jamie Wallace made contact and out came the caution flag.

On the restart Burkoth now had Merry challenging his every move. Bishop was third, Brandon Hill and Jeff Holmgren Jr. were close behind.Midway Corso was back up to sixth with a tight field in front of him. Burkoth couldn’t shake Merry who would duck under the leader from time to time, letting the leader know he was there. On lap thirty five Merry spun in turn four and the race would stop for the final time before the checkered. The five lap dash to the finish would be great as Burkoth held back Corso for the win. Bishop was third, with Holmgren and Jason Hicks next.

The super stock feature brought Tom Roney off the pole for the lead at the off set. Joe DeCubellis, Josh Wallace, Willie Peterson and Adam Regnier who would move through the field to gain third on lap ten was next. The race was so close except for the leaders advantage, no one was going anywhere. With just seven laps to go, Regnier moved into second after a hard battle, but never moved in on the eventual winner. Roney went on to win the race that never saw any slowdowns.Regnier had Wallace behind him, DeCubellis held back the challenges from Dan Clemenz in his best performance to date.Roney in an emotional interview with Track announcer Mike Babicz said,” thanks to everyone for the help” and the Story that led up to the first win in his 5 year career.
