Dustin Holland Scores First Career Win!

May 21, 2005; Lake Geneva, WI. - It was the first night of great
weather as the race fans came out to see the first round of the no bull series sponsored
by Five star race car bodies. The sponsor of the night for the program was Beechwood
Distributors of New Berlin who supplies the raceway with the Anheuser-Busch products we
sell.Fran Prestay of Burlington won the 50 lap feature for the super late model race cars
and went home with $1000 for his efforts.
When announcer Mike Babicz asked Prestay about winning the feature a
few weeks ago and now another win, after a years drought, Prestay said, I guess that
means no feature win next year.
Dustin Holland of Genoa City won his first career McHenry Limousine super
stock non stop 25 lap feature. 17 year old Josh Wallace of Pell Lake, a third generation
driver won the S&P motorsports Millennium late model 30 lap feature. With the win this
records an all time mark at the raceway,as a Father and Son have the points lead.
Joshs Father Jamie is the superlate model points leader and Josh moved into first
place in his division, after his win.
The large crowd took a moment of silence for the passing of
Williamthe chief Dygon who died May 1st. after an extended illness.William was
an avid race fan and had never missed a race that Paul and Carrie Dygon participated in.
Fran Prestay darted out front of the super late model main event, with Eddie May, Matt
Kocourek ,Brandon Hill and Randy Rodgers in hot pursuit.Eddie May and Jamie Wallace
retired to the pits on lap six with problems. The first Yellow Book USA caution period
came on lap fourteen when Shane Bishops engine let loose causing him to go off the
track in turn four with numerous other cars following because of the slippery track. On the
restart quick qualifier Rick Corso slipped into third, but three laps later, the black flag
came out to him because of smoking.Just past midway,Jeff Holmgren Jr. and Terry Patnode
were on the move from the rear of the pack.
In front of them Jerry Cowan was trying everything to get around Kent
Burkoth. The final ten laps were great as Prestayheld his line, but behind the veteran
driver, Kocourek, Burkoth and Patnode were giving the race fans their monies worth. It was
one excellent ending as Patnode gave his all,but Prestay held back the competition,as
Kocourek nipped Patnode, with Rodgers fourth,Burkoth fifth and Holmgren Jr. next.
Dustin Holland shot out front and never turned back around to see where anyone went at the
off set of the super stock feature race. Rookie Jamie Stark raced along the leader for the
next ten laps, but now Bill Reese pulled off a slick move and went in front on lap six.One
lap later Holland said no to that move and had retaken the leader. On lap thirteen Ken
Eisbrenner joined the fray, with Willie Peterson just behind Stark. Traffic was very heavy
as the leader lapped his first caron lap twenty. The final dash was good,as Holland came
home the winner, just ahead of Eisbrenner, Stark in his best start to date, Mike
Gunderson, Scotty Norton, and Randy Schneider in his best finish too.
Doctor Tooth Ken Johnson moved in front of the millennium late model field with Paul
Dygon, Joe Rusciano and Jeff Steenbergen all over the leader. By lap five Steenbergen was
second and lap ten the new leader. That was very short lived as Josh Wallace slipped
outside the leader and into the lead three laps later. Sonny Schoffen who had taken fast
time quickly moved into second on lap eighteen. Before two more laps were recorded the top
nine were too close to call. Schoffen tried everything those final nine laps, but Wallace
was up to the call and won the race, with Schoffen nipping Keith Tolf by just inches,
Ralph Gentile in his best feature finish to date, 2004 champion Brian Ulrich was
next and Dygon sixth.
Next weekend will be very busy with a four day holiday celebration. On Friday the weekly
motocross action takes place at 8pm.The oval track will race on Friday,Saturday and
Monday. The Midwest Enduro series comes in on that final day at 12:30 for a variety of
racing and events. The first Mexican Rodeo takes place Sunday at 1pm. Saturday night is
the first trailer race of the season, along with a full program on stock car racing
starting at 7pm.
