Legends Regional Qualifier and MSCS Next at LGR!

August 12, 2004; Lake Geneva, WI. - For the first time in over ten
years Lake Geneva Raceway will host the Regional qualifier events for the INEX legend
cars.This show will take place on Saturday night August 14th.This event was originally
scheduled for July 3rd. but that event was cancelled due to rain.
We have been getting a lot of calls from all over the United States ,stated
Kevin Dawson the Promoter of the raceway.Last time here some 53 legend cars
qualified in. Speedway Auto Mall, the worlds largest indoor used vehicle dealership
located in Machesney Park, Illinois will sponsor the event. The auto mall is also a
distributor of race products including complete legends, bandolero and thunder roadsters.
The INEX legends that compete weekly have had a lot of different feature winners. Lyle
Kuklinski out of New Berlin holds the point lead, ahead of former champion Curt Gnatzig
from Hartford.Mr.Nice Guy Hermann Greinig of Addison,IL.is third, with
defending champion Steve Licht out of Burlington.Joe Scala of Fox River Grove,IL. has had
some terrible luck the last four weeks,but he ranks fifth. Michael Bilderback of South
Beloit,IL. started late, but is already sixth. Bilderback is the defending INEX Bandolero
champion and will compete in both divisions that night.Robb Duffek had a bad accident afew
weeks ago and the Orland Park,IL. driver should have a new mount for this important show.
Ernie Schaal of Wauconda,IL.ranks eighth and finished well July 30th. Nick Shutkas of
Caledonia,IL. has fared very well here, but hasnt run on a regular basis, because he
is point leader at another track and this has kept him out of the points race here.
Rounding out the top ten is Larry Will of Batavia,IL. who hasnt run every week.
Another up and coming local driver is Tom Palma from Delavan who was a regular with the
formula indy cars.
The INEX bandolero cars will also make their first Saturday night appearance . Their one
of the regular Friday night groups, like the legends.They started the season with some 13
cars. Michael Bilderback and Kyle LaPier are the top drivers in this division.LaPier has a
legend car,but has not said they hell compete in both classes. Michael Cooter is
third, with Bobby Yonkee fourth and Kyle Jusits fifth. A new driver that came here on July
30th.is Jeffery LaPier,Kyles brother.This will be his third race here, in the former
Jason Halbrader car. Once this driver gets sometime in the car he will be a top runner.
A Father and Son team of Jim and Jimmy Uteg of Manhatta,IL. were here on the 30th of July
and ran quick.
Another part of this program will be hottest series in sportsman racing and that is the
Midwest sportsman championship series.It started off in 2003 with a 8 show series, at
Rockford, Slinger and Lake Geneva. This year the series which includes 6 shows, one
of the shows had 30 cars qualify in.Quality Tire Company/American car care centers of
Spring Grove,IL. will sponsor this portion of the program. When this release was written
Jeremy Miller of Rockton,IL. the defending champion of the series, was the point
leader.LGR point leader is Jeremy Bloomberg of Hampshire,IL. has a great season. Kenny
Joosten of Wonder Lake,IL. trails the point leader.Rockford,IL driver Jamie Dorsey is
still looking for that first feature win.Erik Pierce of Lake in the Hills, IL. sold his
race car to millennium race driver Jeff Steenbergen, but will finish the season, in the
former Denny Norton Jr. race car, ranks fourth.Former champion Bobby Giers of
McHenry,IL.is fifth.Gary Norton of nearby Hebron,IL. has not had a feature, but has had
some close finishes. John Senerchia of Oak Forest,IL. and Bill Neering of Cedar Lake,IN.
are two top competitors in the series. Josh Bauer of Random Lake runs strong here, but had
problems at the last show.
The super late models and super stocks will race in a full program too.
There will be no increase in admission prices. Time trials begin at 5:45 pm. races start
at 7pm.
The season finale for the Lions Club district 1A-27 will take place on Monday August 16th.
with the racing of the Great race number 2.This group is celebrating their 34th. year of
compeition at Lake Geneva Raceway.Slinger was just added last
year and Columbus 151 Speedway had their 12th. season this past August 1st. For more
