Big Weekend Ahead at LGR!!

August 3, 2004; Lake Geneva, WI. - With many of the regional track
tracks talking about season finales, Lake Geneva Raceway is gearing up for the biggest and
busiest two months of the season.
This coming weekend is no exception.On Friday night the weekly motocross takes place on
the stadium dirt course at 8pm.The family fun night action on the paved oval presents a
great program for bargain price admission. Divisions that
will compete,include the Rolling services Basic International cars led by Oak Creek driver
Todd Miller.The Perfection auto body legends cars are gearing up for their regional
qualifier on Saturday night August 14th. presented by Speedway
Auto Mall in Machesney Park,Illinois. Their current point leader is New Berlins Lyle
Kuklinski.
The Lusias pizzeria mini modifieds will race on Saturday this
weekend.Ken Johnson from Park Ridge,IL. holds a commanding point lead. In the Bandana
Bandito bandoleros Michael Bilderback the defending champion holds a slim point
lead.The Vazcom communications sport trucks have had some problems with getting the
full field here each week, but the features have been good. Vincent Merry, has three
championships and wasnt going for another, but last week he told the crowd he would
seek his fourth championship. Merry also races a super late model on Saturday nights and
ranks 10th. in a strong field of 20 plus cars that compete weekly.
The S&P motorsports millennium late models are a growing group and
some drivers from other areas have come in to compete weekly. The point leader is Racine
driver Brian Ulrich.Racine county has the largest list of drivers,as over
half the field comes from that county. The Rascal outlaws are back as a visiting
division. The open wheel group has had some close features,until last week, when
Butch Torkelson out of Antioch,IL. ran away with the main event. The super mini
cups are on the card with a field of some 12 drivers expected.
On Saturday night the crowds have gotten within 70 % of last season. The car count is up
and the divisions have had some of the best features in modern years. Second generation
driver Jason Hicks out of Delavan holds a slim point lead,in the Jim Olson collision
centers super late models.In the McHenry Limousine super stocks former champion Jack
Rubach from Burlington is the point leader. The Performance Unlimited sportsman cars have
had their ups and downs,but their features have been great. Jeremy Bloomberg of
Hampshire,IL.a slim point lead.
On Sunday August 8th.the Great Lakes small car enduro group will have a
special event.There will be a small car enduro at 1pm.Then for the first time anywhere in
the country,the group will hold a heavy metal enduro.For information call 262-
728-6240. RJ drywalling out of Delavan will sponsor the show. On Friday night time trials
begin at 6pm. the first race at 7:30.On Saturday night time trials begin at 5:45 and the
first race at 7pm.
