Eddie Hoffman Takes Home the Big Bucks in LGR No Bull!

May 15, 2004; Lake Geneva, WI. - The weather was finally clear and fairly warm, the pit area was ready with four divisions of race cars, as Eddie Hoffman out of Westchester, Illinois came home the winner of the curfew shortened Olson Collinision centers no bull series 68 lap feature race for the super late model race cars. Jack Rubach from Burlington took a clean sweep in the McHenry Limousine super stocks. Jeremy Bloomberg of Hamphire,IL. had a great night with a full field of sportsman cars as he was still able to take a clean sweep in this highly competitive division.

Todd Miller from Oak Creek took fast time and won the dash before the curfew cancelled the feature race for the Rolling Services Basic International cars. The Chuck’s storage super stock dash went to Rubach,the Richter Sentry Food stores sportsman dash was all Bloomberg’s event and the Jim Budget Auto BIC dash going to Miller..

Jack Rubach swept the super stock events he competed in Saturday at the
Raceway.

The super late model race saw rookie Mike Meyerhofer move out front with Brandon Hill, Joe Fischer, rookie Dave Thomas and Jeff Way in a close formation.

Lap four saw the first Yellow pages USA caution period for a spin by the leader, that collected Randy Rodgers.When the green reappeared Fischer flew in front of the field with Hill all over the new leader.

Hill had problems two laps later with Way and Matt Kocourek moving by, further back Landry Potter, Thomas and Terry Patnode were putting on a show. Shuffling for position the spot at the top was getting crowded and by lap thirteen Way and Kocourek were pressuring Fischer. Five laps later Kocourek took over the front spot as Jamie Wallace moved into fifth and Eddie Hoffman got by Hill two laps later for sixth.

Ten laps later Hoffman climbed into second with Wallace, Fischer, Potter and Way all within striking distance of the leader. The leader crept to a comfortable margin five laps later, but the fight for second was intense. On lap forty rookie Jacob Humphrey was now challenging Fischer for fifth. Wallace came out of the cluster and set his sights on the leader who he caught on lap forty two and inched ahead at that point.

For the next twenty two laps Wallace and Kocourek gave the crowd a great show.

Then on lap sixty five Erik Darnell who had slowly came through the field had contact with Potter and James Olson got collected bringing that grueling pace to a halt with only the second caution.

As the cars lined up for the restart Wallace was out front all by himself as Kocourek and Hoffman sat side by side with Humphrey fourth and Jerry Cowan fifth on his outside.Going for the green Wallace and Kocourek making contact.

The leader spun with three other cars becoming involved during the melee. As the cars lined up for an exciting ten lap finale, Hoffman became the new leader. Only three more laps were completed before another mess started and the race was called due to the hour. Hoffman came out the winner and collected $1000 for his efforts, Humphrey took second with semi winner Jason Hicks claiming third with Olson, Russ Blakeley and Darnell completing the top six in this wild finish to what could have been an impressive race.

Ken Eisbrenner darted out front of the super stock feature with Adam Regnier, Mike Bell, Greg Beebe and Josh Matz next. The rare caution flag came out for a spin by fast timer Jack Rubach after contact with Trevor Mock. As the green came back out Eisbrenner looked great as he marched back in front of a fast field.

Before the eighth lap was recorded Regnier had Janssen moving around him after a good battle. By lap ten Mike Gunderson was knocking on Regnier’s door with Tom Roney slipping past Bell one lap later. Side by side the field remained, as the leader got wide enough to let Janssen slip inside and the lead changed before another lap could be finished. With six laps to go Gunderson was trying everything in the book to get past Eisbrenner. But then Eisbrenner surprised everyone as he squeaked in front one lap later.

The crowd got what they paid as the front runner mixed it up with Janssen leading one more lap. But out of third place Rubach came in front with the white flag out and pulled off a slick move to win the feature over Janssen, Eisbrenner, Gunderson, Regnier and Roney a real barn burner.

Gene Patterson led the first five laps of the sportsman feature before Erik Pierce moved in front for the next three go rounds. Jamie Dorsey worked on the leader for two laps before grabbing into the lead. Dorsey held back numerous challenges from Bobby Giers and Jeremy Bloomberg the fast time qualifier who shot in front on lap eighteen and came home the winner at the end of twenty five laps. Giers hung onto second with defending champion Gary LaMonte third.John Senerchia claimed fourth after getting caught in traffic during the early running. Bill Neering nipped Dorsey for fifth in a real close feature.

This coming Friday night will be the season opener for the weekly shows. Spectator admission will be free for anyone who brings in two canned food items That will go to the Shalom Center in Kenosha County and the Caring Center is Walworth County.Time trials begin at 6pm. with the first race at 7:30. The classes of race cars that will race on opening night will be the BIC cars, Perfection Auto Body legend cars ,Luisa’s Pizzeria mini modifieds, Vazcom sport trucks, Bandana Bandito bandolero cars and open wheel rascal outlaws.

On Saturday night Jeff Steenbergen point leader of the millennium late models and all the rest of the drivers who race weekly will be on Saturday night this week for the fans who have never seen these drivers. The super late models, super stocks and one on one races for both semi’s and spectator cars. Time trials begin at 5:45pm with the first race at 7pm.
