Neal Gillentin won the Formula Indy feature race Friday at Lake Geneva
Raceway.

Before the show began, Kevin Lynn, cousin of the late veteran driver Edward ”Bud” Lynn of White Lake, took the black flag around the track, in his memory. Lynn died last Sunday afternoon at his home, he raced at Wilmot and Waukegan Speedway, before moving up to his present home. Lynn tried to race here back in   1978, but his car did not meet the rules and never returned to compete.

The millennium late model feature brought Keith Tolf in front of the field at the off set of the race as he held back numerous challenges for his top spot. First Josh Wallace who nearly took the lead on lap fifteen. Then point leader Brian Ulrich who took fast time, stayed along side the leader, laps twenty through twenty four. Tolf then inched ahead to win this thrilling contest over Ulrich, Monty Coffman, Wallace, Paul Loppnow and rookie Bill Hobson.

It took James Swan just two laps to charge to the front, after taking quick time  and grab the lead from Curt Thomazin, then breeze to large margin of victory over Mike Van Houten, who took some time to get through the field, Phil Schultz was
third, Thomazin, Bill Trusky in the Gerardo Giuliano mount and Sonny Schoffen subbing for Glen Vernezze, in mini modified action.

In the BIC feature David Emery Jr. slipped in front,as the first Yellow Book USA caution came on lap five, as Pete Olson Jr. and Bob Koch tangled. With green out Dan Giannotti moved out front and held the lead until Lenny Adams caught him with just one more lap to go, taking the lead and the win over Giannotti, the quick timer and point leader Todd Miller, Brit Bromann and Leo Bujak.

The open wheel formula indy cars brought Anthony Wallace out front with Vern Brown right on his bumper.Three laps later Neal Gillentine was next to Brown, then in second before the lap ended. Just after the half way point, Gillentine
climbed in front and went on to a comfortable win over Grant Greenfield who nipped Brown at the line. Deron DeBoer was fourth, with Kai McNulty and Jim Bass.

Next Friday night the Bandolero’s and legends return along with a special appearance by the Great Lakes Allison legacy cars, with drivers from five states. The open wheel Rascal outlaws will also race, along with the sport trucks, BICs
and millennium late models.

Time trials begin at 6pm. with the first race at 7:30pm pm. Just three more weeks remain in the 2004 season for weekly Friday action.
