The wacky trailer race at Lake Geneva Raceway saw one competitor wind up on
another's trailer following an incident.

Tom Roney of Ridgefield,IL. won the wild and wacky trailer race that started a record twenty entries. Officials were forced to turn away over twenty more racers, that will now race in special race on Saturday night July 31st.part of the junior fan club night.

The “Al Schill Jr.”memorial dash sponsored by Barker’s reconditioning, went toEddie May.The Chuck’s storage super stock dash went to John Janssen of Burlington and the Richter’s Sentry Food stores sportsman dash went to point leader Jeremy
Bloomberg of Hampshire.

First timer Brad Hartman paced the field on the first lap of the super late model feature with Vincent Merry all over the leader, before the lead changed hands on lap two.Now Randy Rodgers who started in row two was already looking for an opening, with Hartman and Brandon Hill next. The first Yellow Book USA caution period came one lap later after Hartman spun in turn one.

Rodgers blasted past Merry after just one lap under green, but two laps later Terry Patnode slowed quickly, collecting Joe Fischer and Hartman, bringing the race to a stop one more time. As the green reappeared,Rodgers held off Merry,Hill,Eddie May and now Kent Burkoth.

Ten laps later a goggle of race cars got together stopping the race one more time.Eddie May was now second with Merry,Burkoth and Fran Prestay battling for a better position. From now until lap twenty six, it was a Rodgers and May show for the lead. Once in front May inched ahead by a few feet, only to have the caution fly for the final time when Merry spun with five laps to go.

It was a great dash for those final laps,as May won the race.Matt Kocourek ran out of time for any bid for the top spot after passing Rodgers with two to go. Burkoth was fourth, with Prestay and Jason Hicks rounding out the top six.

Ken”farmer”Calhoun shot out front of the super stock feature with Craig Mertes, Kyle Prestay, Dave Edwards and Adam Regnier in hot pursuit.Mertes worked for the next five laps before taking over the lead. The first and only caution came on lap six when Prestay spun while running near the front, but everyone missed him.

Calhoun and Regnier dueled for second while Mertes stayed out front. Then on lap ten Regnier slipped in front. For the next fourteen laps Mertes had a mirror full of  Mike Gunderson, Shane Sapp, Bob Moeller and Jack Rubach who again had fast time, battled for third spot.

The intense pace continued until the final lap as Regnier claimed the win. Rubach nipped Mertes for second, with Gunderson inside the twosome for fourth.Sapp and Moeller were next. A post race inspection dropped Moeller from the entire night and
Janssen grabbed sixth.

The sportsman feature brought Danny Powell out front with Rick Rowlett, Erik Pierce and Gregg Pawelski in his first appearance here. Lap six, Larry Epright spun and the first caution was shown. Under way Powell climbed to a big lead quickly with Pierce next. Steve Strasburg in his first appearance of the season got turned, collecting Chris Klein, as Jamie Dorsey spun to avoid and there was final caution.

For some unknown reason Powell headed towards the pits and Pierce became the new leader The next green was an all Pierce show until the finish, winning the race by a big margin. Bloomberg nipped Kenny Joosten, the fast qualifier, with Bobby Giers next, Gary Norton who had a great run and managed a fifth and Dorsey was next to him in sixth.

The first and only appearance of the Autozone, NASCAR elite Midwest series will be here next Saturday night. There will be a 150 lap feature for the Al Schill Jr. memorial race. The super stocks will race in a full program too. Time trials are
set for 5:45 pm.racing at 7pm.
