By Dale R. Erdmann

June 19, 2004; Lake Geneva, WI. - It was Lynch Motors night at Lake Geneva Raceway Saturday night and a great crowd was on hand to witness the big program. Eddie May of Crystal Lake, Illinois won his fourth Jim Olson collision centers super late model 35 lap feature and Mike Gunderson out of Wind Lake won his first 25 lap McHenry Limousine super stock feature, after many weeks of frustration.

The 40 lap headliner Mid American Yellow Book USA feature went to Jeremy Miller from Rockton,IL. It was thought that Miller broke the one lap qualifying mark, but that record stands from June 23rd. 2003 by Jake Ryan.Miller is the MSCS point leader and this win gave the young driver back to back wins, after last weeks feature at WIR.

Mike Gunderson (4) was best in the super stock main event Saturday at LGR. Here he passes Adam Regnier (73) on his to the win.

Rookie Dave Thomas shot out front of the pack with Billy Baumeister, Jacob
Humphrey, Landry Potter and Randy Rodgers in a cluster behind him. Lap five the first Yellow Book USA caution period came out for a Potter and Jerry Cowan incident. The race was only one lap older when Dave Martinson smashed hard into the wall. Martinson wasn’t injured but his night was over.

On the restart Rodgers picked the inside with Thomas in front and Humphrey behind him. As the green appeared Thomas marched right back in front, much to the amazement of the two behind him. Lap thirteen Vincent Merry spun stopping the intense pace one more time. Each time Thomas wasn’t going to be denied and drove a perfect line in front of the field. On lap seventeen, Joe Fischer’s mount started on fire coming to a halt in front of the crowd. The fire was put out by the safety crew and Fischer escaped unharmed.

On the restart Thomas slipped back in front, but this time Rodgers stayed with the leader, creeping along side him, then contact was made. Rodgers moved in front and Thomas slowed dramatically, retiring to the pits, with the clutch out of his mount, after a brilliant run. Eddie May quickly followed the new leader, with Humphrey still third. Fast timer Wayne Freimund was right behind this group and Baumeister could feel Jason Hicks presence in the next gaggle of cars.

May worked on Rodgers for four laps before securing the top spot,on lap twenty four. The race remained the same as May picked up the win over Rodgers, Humphrey, Freimund, Baumeister and new point leader Hicks.

Dave Edwards slipped in front of the super stock feature with Ken Eisbrenner and Adam Mass in a dead heat for second.Adam Regnier back after being off was looking for space to move up on these two. The pace was fearce, with Shane Sapp, Bob Moeller and Mike Gunderson next.

Edwards was having his way up front all to himself, but the show for second had the crowd going wild. Mass held on two laps, then Eisbrenner held it five, before Regnier inched his way into the popular spot. But Gunderson was the quickest car on the track, securing third on lap fifteen. Norman Paulsen and Brent Mason tangled on lap sixteen, an incident that Edwards didn’t want to see.

The next green gave Edwards only a quarter of a lap to hold the lead,as Gunderson moved by and went on to a big margin win.Regnier claimed second, with fast qualifier Jack Rubach next, followed by John Janssen, Edwards and Mass for a exciting contest.
