June 5, 2004; Lake Geneva, WI. - Did you ever think that things
could not get any worse? Well despite having a great crowd on hand and 100 race cars in
the pit area, things were out of hand during the Friday night family fun night at Lake
Geneva Raceway. Oh yes. There was a full moon overhead and but things got very weird.
First during the running the Bandana Bandito bandolero hot laps,
something happened to Kyle LaPiers number 12 as it smashed hard into the turn two wall.
LaPier escaped injury, but his race car was totally destroyed. Then during their heat race,
Kyle Jusits hit the wall coming off turn four and had to be taken to Elkhorn Hospital.
Then during the super mini cup feature Andy Forester flew into the protection tire
backwards and was knocked out, before going to the hospital.
The legends feature saw Michael Bilderback in his debut. Brian Julien led the first four
laps of the contest before Rob Duffek took the lead and held back challenges from Hermann
Greinig who was a close second. Lyle Kukinski last weeks feature winner was third Nick
Shutkas fourth, Steve Licht fifth and Joe Scala sixth.
Brad Kossow held the first eight laps of the feature race of the S&P motorsports
Millennium feature before the eventual winner Brian Ulrich took over. Sonny Schoffen the
fast time qualifier was second with Keith Tolf along side in third, Mark
Hartline fourth, Paul Dygon fifth and former dirt track champion Joe Rusciano sixth. In
the best night of her career Carrie Dygon finished right with the pack in a close eighth
behind Kossow.
After the melee Jeff Myers made it two in a row for the quick timer, with Dick Behrendt at
his door step in second ,Jim Howard was third, with Karl Turner, Matt Reahmer and Nate
Holdner sixth in the super mini cup feature.
First night racer Collin Laursen led the first two laps of the Bandolero feature before
dropping out with problems. Michael Cooter gave the fans a scare when he was squeezed onto
the wall riding it before coming off. Michael Bilderback took over the front spot on the
restart and never looked back finishing in front of Bobby Yonkee. Branden Allen
another rookie was third in a very good run.Dwight Dunlap was fourth right on his bumper
with a recovering Michael Cooter fifth and his brother David Cooter Jr. next.
Fast timer Todd Miller nipped Valerie Epright for the win of the Rolling Services Basic
International feature race that went non stop. Leo Bujak was third, Valdi Vladimirov was
fourth with the return of former champion Bob Koch fifth and Peter Olson Jr. sixth.
Glen Vernezze took a clean sweep of the Lusias pizzeria mini modifieds by winning
the dash after taking fast time then going on to win the feature ahead of Ken Johnson who
nipped Curt Thomazin, Mike VanHouten was fourth with Andy Krueger fifth and rookie
Gerardo Giuliano next.
Next Friday night Nestles of Burlington sponsors the program as five of the six
regular divisions will be here. The bandoleros will travel to the south in a INEX
national event and we wish them good luck.Time trials begin at 6pm. racing at 7:30pm.
