In his first race ever, Kyle Prestay collected a win in a super stock heat race Saturday at LGR.

The super late model feature had just got started when Vincent Merry spun bringing out the first Yellow pages USA caution period. Under way Brandon Hill slipped back in front after leading two out of three laps while battling with Don Collins.

Jerry Cowan crept into second on lap four, just a Jacob Humphrey went into the pits with problems. In third was Denny Hiffman, with Terry Patnode, Jerry Mueller and Shane Bishop in tight formation. There was intense racing throughout the field but on lap eight Jason Hicks and Earl Counter made contact bringing out another caution period.

On the restart just one more lap was recorded before Patnode and Bishop got together.

Again Hill marched in front with Hiffman now in second from time to time as Collins wanted that position too and he took it over on lap eleven. Now Hill would find that Collins wasn’t going to waste anytime mounting a challenge of a position he held since the get go.From laps thirteen to sixteen it a side by side race at the top with Collins inching his way in front one lap later.

Then out of no where Eddie May climbed into second then along side the new leader three laps later, before moving into the lead on lap twenty one, then going on to win the event in fine fashion.Collins held back numerous tries for his spot as Rick Corso took a close third. Hiffman in his first night out was fourth, with Cowan and Billy Baumeister rounding out the top six in a very excellent race.

Darryl Traber shot off the pole as the double greens were shown in the super stock clash and never looked back until the only caution flew on lap twenty with five laps to go as Dave Melahn stalled in turn one.

This set up one intense fight for the lead and the win as John Janssen gave it his all but Traber drove a perfect line to win his first main event in teammates Al Kuphal’s car. Shane Sapp who was along Janssen for the past ten laps took third still at his side.Jack Rubach the quick qualifier who started last was fourth after taking the Powersource racing engines challenge.Bob Moeller was fifth and Mike Gunderson who started near rear claimed sixth.

Former dwarf car racer Danny Powell darted out front of the sportsman field but the only caution came at the end of lap one,as Bobby Hacker and Adam Berge made contact causing Hacker to go around. Powell slipped back in front for three more laps but Jeremy Spoonmore worked hard to take over the top spot. Point leader Jeremy Bloomberg was now second and Jeremy Miller third, Jamie Dorsey fourth as Powell faded to fifth in a side by side fight for a position.

Things were tight as Miller climbed into second on lap eight after a great tussle with Bloomberg. Lapped traffic played the part of this lead change as Spoonmore and Miller waged the war for that top position.

Miller finally moved inside of the leader one more time with the lapped cars now behind them and the lead changed on lap twelve as the new front runner going home with another victory eighteen laps later. Miller used those lapped cars to his advantage after they were in his way before taking the top spot. Bloomberg was second, with Spoonmore a close third, Dorsey fourth, as fast qualifier James Swan claimed fifth and Hacker recovering for sixth in another good race.

Next Saturday night the Midwest sportsman championship series comes back for their second appearance here. A full field of sportsman, along with the super late models and super stocks will be on hand. There will be no increase in admission prices. Time trials begin at 5:45 and the first race at 7 sharp. As Avoco Oil will sponsor the show.
