Record Friday Night LGR Opener!

May 29, 2004; Lake Geneva, WI. -  It may have been a cold night after the sun went down but the first Friday night of weekly stock car racing at Lake Geneva Raceway produced a record field of race cars and the second largest spectator crowd forthe third year for the family fun program.

Jeff Myers scored his first feature win ever in the super mini cup feature Friday at Lake Geneva. 

Defending champions Ken “Dr.Tooth” Johnson out of Paddock Lake and
12 year old Michael Bilderback from South Beloit, Illinois started off just
where they ended last season. Both drivers won their respective features.

Johnson in the 15 lap Luisa’s Pizzeria mini modified event,driving the Glen Vernezze car after the engine let loose in the his regular car during hot laps. Second place went to Phil Schultz from Silver Lake and third to Curt Thomazin of Elkhorn.

Bilderback won the 15 lap Bandana Bandita Bandolero feature with twice as many cars as any night last season tried to chase down him down.The three classes of cars ran together Michael being a the young gun group.Highest finishing outlaw was Jason Halbrader and bandit group was Bobby Yonkee, in this growing division in their second year.

The Rolling services Basic International car 20 lap feature went to Vladi Vladimiro of Racine. For the third time in three tries Todd Miller from Oak Creek took fast time.Miller finished second in the main event ,with Jamey Payne of Northlake, IL.taking third.

The Perfection Body Auto legends feature was close with New Berlin   driver Lyle Kuklinski winning the 15 lap feature. Larry Will from Batavia,IL. was second and defending champion Steve Licht of Burlington third, after taking fast time and winning the dash.

Mark Hartline of Gilberts,IL. won the 25 lap S&P motorsports millennium late model feature, with Paul Dygon from Racine was right on the winners tail in second, with another Racine driver Brian Ulrich third. In his debut Ralph Gentile also from Racine had a great first night taking 12th. in the feature and third in his heat.

Next Friday the rescheduled Shalom Center and Caring Center night takes place.  Any spectator that brings two canned goods will receive free admission. Time trials begin at 6pm. First race at 7:30 sharp.The super mini cups join the six regular
divisions.
