Johnson and Bilderback Score Clean Sweeps at LGR!
Keith Tolf Wins First MLM Feature!

September 5, 2003; Lake Geneva, WI. - The season finale for the family fun night program at Lake Geneva Raceway Friday brought out a large field of race cars and gave the race fans some great excitement on R.A. Adams Enterprises of McHenry, Illinois night.Ken Johnson of Paddock Lake was up to the call as the four time defending Herb’s mini modified champion took fast time,won the dash and in a photo finish won the 15 lap feature race. Michael Bilderback of South Beloit,IL. had another great night as the nations number two driver and current point leader here, had fast time, then won his heat and finished just in front to win the 12 lap feature race for the INEX bandolero cars. This gave these two drivers a clean sweep for the evening.

Michael Bilderback (#2) spun his Bandolero car Friday at Lake Geneva and yet went
on to score a clean sweep; setting fast time, winning his heat and the
feature race.

Veteran driver Vern Brown of Waunakee won the 15 lap Formula Indy feature in another close contest. Todd Miller of Oak Creek was the winner of
the 15 lap Anchor Towing Basic International car feature,in his first night out.
Herman Greinig of Addison,IL. won his first 15 lap Perfection Auto Body feature of the season in a start to finish run. Chad Ross of Zion,IL. won the 15 lap Midwest Sport truck feature,after the apparent winner jumped the gun on the restart and was put one position back. Kenosha driver Keith Tolf won his first 20 lap S&P motorsports millennium late model feature in his third night out.

The millennium late model feature got off to a rocky start as Sonny Schoffen spun in turn one with Brian Ulrich out front stopping the action on lap two.On the restart Keith Tolf moved past Ulrich and never looked back winning the event over Ulrich,a recovered Schoffen,point leader and quick timer Jacob Humphrey,Mike Lange and Paul Dygon.All starting cars were side by side at the finish for a very close race.

Phil Schultz jumped out front of the mini modified feature with rookie Jesse Johnson at his side,after a brief battle with Andy Krueger.By lap five Mike VanHouten had moved into second and two laps later into the lead.Jesse Johnson followed the new leader as Schultz faded to third.

Ken Johnson was right with the front two within three laps and things were tight at the top. Fourth place Curt Thomazin dropped out on lap eleven with unknown problems. Then on lap twelve Ken Johnson got his break as VanHouten had a six car lead, Jesse Johnson lost a wheel causing the first caution.

VanHouten’s lead was gone and Johnson was right on the leader as the green reappeared for those final three laps.Then Rick Lambert spun causing one more caution. As the green came out VanHouten walked Johnson into turn one, then Johnson inched ahead in two. It was a dead heat through four when Johnson crept ahead. But Van Houten wasn’t going down easy, coming back in front before the end of turn two. Coming off four Johnson was ahead but at the wire VanHouten
gave it one more try but fell short by six inches in a race that had the crowd on their feet. Hermie Schultz was third,with Chris Marinello, Phil Schultz and Bill Trusky rounded out the ten six.

The bandolero feature got off to a tough start as Brian Heberlin got into the wall. Then two more restarts came as everyone had trouble in turn four. Under way Michael Cooter charged out front with Kyle LaPier was next and Jimmy Quick fourth.

Within one lap Michael Bilderback was second as Steve Erickson Jr. dropped out with problems running sixth. The lead changed on lap three but LaPier wasn’t going to let Bilderback out of his sight moving past Cooter and in on the leader.
with just one lap to go Quick went around in turn two and the caution came out. LaPier was sent to the pits for not slowing for the caution as when the green came out Bilderback stayed ahead of Cooter, Quick and David Cooter Jr. for the win in a green white checkered situation.

This coming Friday night the first demo derby in over 12 years will take place.There will be two classes of cars.The event starts at 7 pm. For more information call the raceway at 262-248-8566.
