Potter, Moeller and Miller Win LGR Features! By Dale R. Erdmann

August 30, 2003; Lake Geneva, WI. -  It was Culver’s of Elkhorn junior fan club night,Saturday at Lake Geneva Raceway as former Budweiser super late model champion Landry Potter of Genoa City won his first 35 lap feature of the season. Another former champion Bob Moeller of McHenry, Illinois won his third McHenry Limousine super stock feature
for 25 laps and rookie Performance Unlimited sportsman driver Jeremy Miller of Rockton,IL. won his third 25 lap feature of the year.

Landry Potter guest drove the Simonson #17 to the late model feature win Saturday night at Lake Geneva Raceway. He was joined afterwards by Junior Fan Emily Amborn. Jeremy Miller (#5) used the high groove to outrun his teammate Bobby Hacker (#05) to win the sportsman main event Saturday at LGR.  Bob Moeller (#63) won his third Super Stock feature of 2003 at Lake Geneva Raceway.

Mark Hartline led the opening lap before Jerry Freeman crept in front,with Jeff Way, Wayne Freimund, Jerry Cowan and Landry Potter next. By lap seven Potter had moved to fourth with thing very tight throughout the field. On lap nine Denny Hiffman and fast timer/point leader Jamie Wallace tangled with the first caution appearing. As the green appeared Potter moved ahead of the pack with Freeman and Way next. Cowan moved past Way on lap fifteen with Joe Fischer all over Way one lap later.

The next caution came on lap nineteen when Vincent Merry and Jeff Menolascino tangled. Potter walked the field on the restart with Freeman, Cowan, Way and Fischer in close formation. Behind this cluster Rick Corso, Jason Hicks, Wallace, Freimund and Hartline were waging their own war.

On lap thirty as the field entered turn three Wallace and Fischer spun at the same time bringing out the final caution. When the green came back out it was a five lap dash to the finish as Potter easily won the race. Freeman, Cowan, Way, Eddie May and Corso were under a blanket for the remaining five spots.

The super stock feature saw Adam Regnier move from his outside pole starting spot into the lead at the drop of the double greens. Brad Norgard inside pole was next with Norm Paulsen, Mike Gunderson and Bob Moeller next. For the next ten laps the positions never changed except for Moeller’s one place advancement as the race still looked like a parade lap. Dan Huber dropped back while running mid field on lap fourteen.

Fast time qualifier Sonny Schoffen was black flagged two laps later for a burning problem. With the green flag shown Moeller marched in front but Regnier was not giving up. Huber dropped out with problems.

Things got very exciting on lap seventeen when Paul Roscoe left the track at the pit exit while on fire. The caution flew and the safety crew quick came to the scene and put the fire out. As the race restarted Moeller had Regnier again all over him. The final six laps were awesome as Moeller won the event, then came a side by side finish with Regnier and Paulsen. Mike Bell in his best night in sometime was right behind them, as Gunderson was along side for fifth and Rob Summers next.

Jeff Peterson and Gary Norton put on a show for the lead on the sportsman main event. Peterson led the opening round,with Norton the next four, before veteran driver Bob Hacker moved in front. Lee Gibbs brought this intense run to a halt on lap seven after spinning off the turn two grass.

Hacker now had Jeremy Bloomberg and Jeremy Miller putting on the pressure. Tim Sargent spun in turn three on lap ten stopping the action one more time. Hacker moved back in front as Bloomberg and Miller raced side by side for second.Then action stopped again after Peterson ended up against the turn two tire. Two laps later another caution came and the hard run was halted again.

Then one more lap was recorded before first nighter Bobby Giers spun in turn three stopping the race once more. On the restart Miller climbed in front of Hacker and never looked back winning the race in fine fashion. Hacker held onto second with fast timer and defending champion James Swan third .Denny Norton Jr. nipped Bloomberg at the wire, with Kenny Joosten in his brand new car next.

This coming Saturday night will be the school bus races. The super late models, super stocks and BICs will race. Time trials begin at 5:45 pm. and the first race at 7pm.
