Mike Lange Wins Third In a Row in MLM Feature!

11 year old Michael Bilderback of South Beloit, Illinois who ranks second
in the nation in the INEX bandolero car points took a clean sweep of his division by
taking fast time,winning the heat, the 8 lap feature for the point leader here.Craig
Carlson of Cary, IL. won the 15 lap rascal outlaws feature and Neal Gillentine of
Yorkville,IL. took fast time and won the 20 lap Formula Indy cars
The legends feature saw Rob Duffek scoot in front of the field with
Herman
Greinig taking over the top spot on lap two. There was a great shuffle for positions until
lap seven when visiting quick timer Josh Schoenick, Larry Will and Duffek tangled bringing
out the first caution of the event.No one was injured but all three mounts were damaged
and no one was able to continue. Two laps later another caution fell for a Nick Shutkas
and Joe Scala get together.
Steve Licht had taken the lead on lap six and each caution climbed back in front and
eventually went on to win the contest.But with just one lap to go first Greinig, then
visiting Eric Lokemoen chased the winner to the wire. Curt Gnatzig who was in the Garrett
Will car was third after starting dead last because of the car change. Greinig was
fourth,Lyle Kuklinski fifth and a recoved Scala sixth as the last lap brought lots of
chances before the checkered.
The BIC cars raced on the third mile tonight as the twenty car field saw the green flag
Andy Portzen led the first lap before Scott Norton moved in front. The one and only
caution came with three laps to go, this is what Dan Giannotti needed to go on to win when
the green flag was shown. It took until the final corner to move in front as Giannotti
pulled off the win at the wire for a real thriller. Norton was able to hang on for second,
with Dan Clemenz, Rob Hunt, Steve Richter and Rob Schiebel completing the top six.
Mark Hartline and Bob Torkelson dueled for the front spot from their pole starting
positions. Hartline gained the front spot which he held until lap five when Mike Lange
slipped in front. On lap eight Shawn Conley lost water all over turn one bringing out the
caution. On the restart Lange and Hartline fought for the top spot the next three laps.
Lange gained the edge on lap twelve but now Sonny Schoffen and Michael Kruschke joined the
fray with things getting very tight up front.
Quick qualifier Jacob Humphrey was looking for an opening to advance forward running fifth
with five laps to go. Lange was the winner of the event with Hartline holding back
Humphrey for second, Kruschke fourth in his best showing since a racing incident
demolished his car four weeks ago. Monty Coffman claimed fifth and Paul Dygon sixth right
along side him in a good close race.
This coming Friday night marks four shows in three days of competition. Quality Builders
of Richmond,IL. welcomes back the Central states regional super mini cups. The Formula
Indy cars, INEX bandolero, legends, BIC, sport trucks, millennium late models and return
of the Herb’s mini modifieds with just two more weekly shows to go on this night of
the week. Time trials for the eight divisions begin at 6 pm. racing at 7:30 sharp. On the
stadium dirt course weekly moto cross takes place at 8pm. There will be oval track shows
Saturday and Sunday night.
