super late models Saturday night at Lake Geneva Raceway.

Jerry Freeman led the first lap of the super late model contest with
nineteen cars behind him. Jeff Way inched ahead one laps later with visiting Adam Royale
creeping past Freeman the next go round later. Jerry Cowan worked on Freeman the next nine
laps before the first caution came out for a spin by Royale that caused a nine car pile
up. Matt Kocourek and Erik Darnell were the only cars that required pit stops but they did
return by the next green.
Way darted out front with Landry Potter, visiting Chris Weinkauf and Fran Prestay in a
cluster. This was a short lived green as Freeman and Cowan made contact causing another
stop. Then one more caution before racing began as Rick Corso spun in front of the large
crowd that watched on. Finally under way Way led one more lap before Potter slipped in
front. Fran Prestay also got by. But Way wasnt going to give up. They diced for the
position many times this went on until Way marched back in front on lap twenty six.
This advance was short lived because Jamie Wallace scooted in front one lap later. Wallace
led laps twenty seven, twenty nine, Way led the others. On lap thirty one Way again
took control and went on to win this major event, behind the leader Prestay secured second
one lap later finishing that way. At the checkered Wallace was third, with Corso
recovering to fourth,Weinkauf was fifth and Jerry Freimund sixth.
For the second week in a row the super stock feature got off to a rocky start. Before one
lap could be completed, Mike Gunderson who turned fast time for the first time in his
career got squeezed into the wall. Gunderson never returned after pitting because of
heavy damage. The next green Shane Scarpace spun while running mid pack and another
caution appeared. Each time Dustin Holland led the opening, then second lap. Tom Fay moved
in front on lap three. On lap nine Tom Roney while running third broke an axle and out
came another caution.
Fay led just one more lap before Dan Huber grabbed the lead, one lap later Norm Paulsen
was challenging the new leader. Scarpace spun again on lap twelve, with two more cautions
to follow. One was Hollands spin on the restart, the second for Tom Jastrab having
his right front wheel to break off. Then it rained hard, but because of the heat, when the
rain stopped three minutes later, it took very little time to dry.
It was all out racing until lap twenty two when Mike Hansen lost his radiator all over
turn two and out came the final caution. After a brief shower delay Huber won the race
over point leader Rob Summers, Paulsen, Sonny Schoffen, Brad Norgard,
and Adam Mass.
The sportsman feature was outstanding as the top ten running cars stayed side by side the
entire race that went non-stop. Jeremy Bloomberg moved in front at the get go with Ken
Joosten at his side. Barry Krueger was third but point leader Jeremy Miller was on the
move along with Gary LaMonte and Erik Pierce.
On lap ten Denny Norton Jr. joined the fray. One lap later Joosten slipped
in front. The see/saw race behind the new leader was great, one more lap was completed and
LaMonte got past Miller. The crowd went wild as Bloomberg moved back in front on lap
sixteen. The top ten were too close to call with just five laps to go, but somehow Miller
inched his way into third with just four laps to go, then into second with three laps to
go. Coming off turn four Bloomberg got just wide enough for Miller to get inside.
This opened the door for LaMonte to sneak by the fallen leader. Miller drove home to
victory in an exciting race.LaMonte held back Bloomberg for second.Pierce was fourth,
Joosten fifth and Norton sixth. The joy of winning was dashed after a post race inspection
dropped Miller to last. This moved Bob Hacker into sixth.
