Score Clean Sweeps in LGR Friday Show!!

Micheal Bilderback kept his record intact by winning his heat and the 10 lap feature for
the Bandolero cars. Other features went to Hermie Schultz out of Silver Lake in the
Herb’s mini-modifieds.
Curt Gnatzig of Hartford in the Perfection Auto Body legend cars,
Chris Koleno of McHenry,IL.led all laps to win the 15 lap Anchor Towing Basic
International cars feature. Vincent Merry of Wadsworth,IL. just missed a clean sweep of
the Midwest sport trucks running away with the feature and Mike Lange of Milwaukee won his
first career feature for the S&P motorsports millennium late models.
Garrett Will led the first six laps of the Legends feature with a caution
at lap four for a spun Dave Cerer. Rookie Joe Scala slipped in front for the next four
laps until fast timer Curt Gnatzig flew past ans survived two more cautions before winning
the contest over a fast closing Steve Licht who took second right behind the winner. Lyle
Kukinski was third with Garrett Will, Herman Greinig and Dave Cooter Sr. sixth.
Jeff Goodwin led the first half of the millennium feature with two cautiona on lap four
for a spun Earl Counter and then again on lap ten for a spin by Carrie Dygon. At that
point Mike Lange gained the front spot as the green was displayed holding off
challenges by numerous drivers taking the win ahead of Mark Hartline who nearly over came
the leader on laps fifteen, eighteen and the final lap for an exciting finish. Goodwin
held on to third with Paul Dygon, Shawn Conley and fast qualifier Jacob Humphrey sixth.
For the third week in a row the mini modified first lap was rough on the competition as
Chris Marinello and Phil Schultz both never saw another lap of the main event. Mike
VanHouten got caught in the melee but came back to run the race that was cut due to
problems. Lap two Chris Tomazin spun stopping the action,with another caution coming on
lap four. On that restart it looked like Hermie Schultz jumped the gun just before starter
Dave Rex Jr.threw the green flag. Each restart rookie Jesse Johnson grabbed the lead.
On lap six Tomazin retired to the pits,with fast qualifier and point leader Ken Johnson
doing the same after moving up to sixth. Now Glen Vernezze was the leader with Schultz hot
on his tail.The final stop was lap ten when rookie Tim Hansen spun and couldn’t
restart.
With the final green Vernezze and Schultz were in a dead heat for the lead.With the white
flag out Schultz inched ahead, coming home the winner over Vernezze, Curt Tomazin, Bill
Trusky, a recovered Mike VanHouten and Jesse Johnson completing the top six.
This coming Friday night will be a special program due to the NASCAR weekend here. The
Budweiser super late models, S&P millennium late models, Anchor Towing BIC cars and
the Perfromance Unlimited sportsman cars all here. Time trials begin at 6pm. The first
race at 7:30pm .Tickets for the whole weekend are on sale at the raceway office for just
$23 for both nights.
