Mixed Bag of Weather Foils LGR Opener! Dale R. Erdmann

April 5, 2003; Lake Geneva, WI. -  It started off as heavy wet freezing rain that turned to hail and finished off as snow before ending around 8 am Saturday morning. The forecast for Saturday night in the low 20’s didn’t help the sun shine during the day as Kevin Dawson announced that the 2003 season opener at Lake Geneva Raceway would be postponed until April 12th.

This announcement came at 8:42 am. during the Sports Jam radio show on WLKG 96.1 FM as Dawson who has a segment each week on that program said it was a very easy decision with the high Saturday only to be 30 degrees.

The bad part about it was the canceling of the Midwest sportsman series premiere that will now be part of the Rockford Speedway two day show this coming weekend. This round will be rescheduled at LGR April 19th. along with the first leg of the No Bull series for the super late models.

The season opener April 12th. will include the Budweiser super late models,the McHenry Limousine super stocks, Midwest sport trucks and the Anchor Towing basic international cars. Time trials begin at 5:45 pm. First race at 7 sharp.Weekly racing will continue through October 4th.

The raceway is a paved banked one third mile oval located in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin a tourist town along the border of Illinois. Less than one hour from Milwaukee,Madison,Rockford,IL. and Chicago,IL. just off Highway 50 on Bloomfield
