Rain Again at Lake Geneva Raceway,
Friday Action Begins May 17th!

May 11, 2002; Lake Geneva, WI. For the second time this season rained washed away the Saturday night race program at Lake Geneva Raceway. The scheduled roll over contest will be rescheduled at a later date.

The point battle after four completed race shows has Joe Fischer of McHenry, Illinois with a 15 point margin leading the field of Budweiser super late models.Al Schill of Franklin is second and Rick Corso from McHenry,IL.the 2001 millennium champion is third.

In the McHenry Limousine super stocks defending championship Jack Rubach of Burlington holds a narrow lead with a 40 point cushion over East Troy’s Jeremy Tess with rookie Sonny Schoffen of Crystal Lake,IL .is third.

The Performance Unlimited sportsman cars brings local hometown driver defending Mid-American champion James Swan of Lake Geneva ahead of the pack after winning all three features he started in this early stage of the season.Zac Deeringer of Wonder Lake,IL. and Brian Baker from Springfield are second and third respectively but substantially behind the point leader but within 15 points of each other.

This coming Saturday night the super late models and super stocks will be joined on the sportsman cars for the weekly program.

This Friday night the weekly season begins for the family night program. The Anchor Towing BIC cars have already shown the fans that their numbers are large as some 59 showed up for their debut on May 4th.when they ran in front of the Saturday night race fans.

Todd Booker from nearby Hebron,IL. is the defending champion winning his first title by 5 points over Jeff Baum from Gurnee,IL.Burlington driver Randy Schneider was third last season .

The millennium late model field sponsored by S&P motorsports has a wide open group as Rick Corso has switched to super late models. Mark Hartline of Gilbert.IL. who races a truck with the super late models won the first feature of the season in the former Shawn Connelly mount.

Paul and his daughter Cari Dygon out of Racine will be the first family competitiors with two of these race cars. Jeff Goodwin of Zion,IL. will be another top driver in this growing field along with Tommy Nevoso from Trevor. Drivers from Jefferson Speedway are again expected and welcomed to race.

The Herb’s mini modified will have a strong division with Ken Johnson of Paddock Lake leading the group. Joe Miller from Kenosha finished just 50 points behind the champion and Mike VanHouton of Cary,IL.

The Perfection Auto Body legends cars have had large fields and should continue to grow. Al Smith of Rockford,IL. is the defending champion.Curt Gnatzig of Hartford finished second last season with division sponsor Clayton Kruse of Burlington third.

Opening night the open wheel Rascal Outlaws and the Sideline motorsports sport trucks will join the other three divisions. Time trials begin at 6:30pm. with the first race at 7:45 sharp.

Admission to the spectator area is only $9 for adults with juniors $5 and under 8 free with any adult admission. Weekly Friday night racing continues through August 30th. Regular divisions will again share in a point fund if they compete in 75% of all completed shows.
