Gnatzig Clean Sweeps Legends Class at LGR!

There is one special left for Friday September 27th. Hartford driver Curt
Gnatzig had his race car ready to go and that is what the current point leader did by
taking fast time winning the dash and then the 15 lap feature race for the Perfection Auto
Body legends cars. Tommy Nevoso was back his S&P motorsports millennium late model and
won the 20 lap feature.
Chad Ross of Wadsworth,Illinois won the sport truck feature.Ken Johnson of Paddock Lake
squeeked across the line first to win another Herb’s mini modified 15 lap feature and
Steve Richter of Bristol won his first 15 lap from a dead stop four abreast Anchor Towing
Basic International car feature.
Curt Gnatzig led all 15 laps of the legends feature taking the win
over Clayton Kruse Brad Popp Rob Duffek and Herman Greinig. The non stop mini- modified
feature brought Bill Trusky in front for just one lap before Hermie Schultz flew by.
Quickly Ken Johnson grabbed second on lap three and the sprint was on. Jeff Schultz moved
around Trusky on lap five and there was a new three way battle for first place. Hermie
Schultz and Johnson put on a show from lap six to eight before Johnson dove into turn
three quicker than the cluster around him and there was a new leader.
Jeff Schultz secured second on lap eleven but there would be no challenge
for the top spot that Johnson held for another win. Jeff and Hermie Schultz were next with
Trusky and Mike VanHouten completing the top five.
Second week driver Steve Schlosser held onto the lead for one lap before Boyd Calvert
inched ahead in this highly competitive division. Schlosser wasn’t satisfied with
second and during the next few laps the see saw struggle continued. On lap seven Schlosser
secured the top spot at the line but now Shawn Conley was right along side the new driver.
One lap later
Conley was the leader at the strip but the only caution came on lap ten as two laps spun
in turn three.
On the restart Schlosser charged back in front as the race was too close to call. Somehow
Tommy Nevoso crept along side Conley then the leader and there was a new face out front.
Mike Lange joined the fray at the front on lap fifteen and it was going to be one great
finish. Five laps later on lap seventeen Schlosser received the black flag for using too
much surface and his hopes of a win were over. A lapped car got in the way with the white
flag shown and cars scattered everywhere to avoid an incident. Nevoso went on to win the
race over Conley, Lange, Kenny Joosten and Joe Rusciano in his first trip back in
sometime.
The BIC cars started at the line four abreast and at a standing stop Steve Richter took
the lead and never looked back for the wire to wire victory over point leader Greg
Sheldon, Jeff Bremer, Dave Cheney Jr. and Dan Giannotti. Nick Kalteis spun early in the
event and never recovered finishing twelveth as he was tied in points going into tonights
show.
The officals and race drivers would like to thank everyone of the fans for the great
support this second season of weekly racing on Friday nights. The next Friday night show
is September 27th. with the annual Small car world championships.
