August 9, 2002; Lake Geneva, WI. - With just three more Friday nights of weekly racing at Lake Geneva Raceway Hermie Schultz of Silver Lake won his second career feature in the Herb’s mini modified feature for 15 laps. After the event Schultz said "it sure feels great to be racing with my children tonight and being able to beat the best" (referring to both point leader Jeff Schultz other son Phil and defending track champion of the division Ken Johnson who finished second.

Jim Ross (#00) brought his sharp looking Sport Truck to victory lane after the feature event.

Defending Anchor Towing Basic Inter national car champion Todd Booker of Hebron, Illinois won the 15 lap feature in the former Jeff Baum car then refused the claim dropping him from the finish and placing the win in Brian Bottlemy’s corner after actually finishing second. Dave Colletti of Lake in the Hills,IL. took second in his heat but captured fast time and the 20 lap feature to increase his point lead.

Tim Toussaint of McHenry,IL. won the close 15 lap super mini cup feature. The Perfection Auto Body legend cars had a special sponsored by Leader Towing and Transportation of Milwaukee Brown Deer Amoco Statt Auto Parts from Milwaukee Speedway Auto Mall of Rockford,IL. and Great North Legends of Shakopee,MN as visiting Elliott Weiler of Marshfield made his trip profitable by winning the exciting 20 lap feature. Shawn Connelly of Huntley,IL. won his third S&P motorsports millennium late model feature of the season and Jim Ross of Kenosha won the 12 lap sport truck feature.

The mini modified feature got off to a rocky start when Mike VanHouten’s throttle stuck going into turn three on the opening lap.VanHouten got the mount into the oil dry from the previous event and luckly spun around before getting into the wall at full speed.

There was a complete restart as VanHouten still shaken from the incident elected to start in the rear. As the green flag appeared Hermie Schultz went from sixth to first before the race had one lap in.Point leader Jeff Schultz made his move one lap later taking second from first year driver Curt Thomazin and then set out to get the lead. This never happened as fast timer Ken Johnson stayed at his side until lap five when the veteran driver moved into second Hermie Schultz remained in firm command of the top spot but with five laps to go Rick Lambert got lapped and didn’t move to the inside so Schultz went high and Johnson went low as a three deep situation was created. Everyone got through that scare and Schultz held back numerous challenges from Johnson to win the race. Johnson was second with Jeff Schultz next Bill Trusky at his side in fourth Phil Schultz was fifth.

As the green flag came out Elliott Weiler slipped in from and held back the continuous pressure from everyone who tried to get by and even one caution flag to win the wire to wire contest over Russ Weiler, Josh Schoenick, Brian Cataldi was the first LGR regular to finish in the top five. Larry Will rounded out the top five.

The millennium late model feature brought Boyd Calvert in front of the field for just one lap before Illiana regular Mike Carpenter Jr. slipped in front. Between Calvert and now Josh Shaw the pressure was on the new leader. On lap eight Denny Norton Jr. joined the battle for the front spot.

On lap fouteen Paul Dygon scared everyone as his mount started on fire. Trying to head for the safety crew on the infield Steve Maciosek was at the right place at the wrong time and smashed hard into the protective tire causing damge to his car. No one was uinjured but both drivers had to watch the remainder of the race from the pits. Carpenter spun under pressure to hold onto that front spot as the green reappeared and quickly there was another caution.

The four lap dash was exciting as Shawn Connelly charged in front and held on for the win Norton Jr. was second Shaw Kenny Joosten and Jacob Humphrey a rookie who took second in time rounded out the top five.

It took Todd Booker half the event to move from near last and then into the lead going on to win the race by a good margin over Brian Bottlemy Greg Sheldon Randy Schneider and Steve Doherty. Tony Burrafato moved up to fifth and Bottlemy became the winner after the claim wasn’t taken by Booker.

The Rascal Outlaws return with the regular other five divisions this Friday night as time trials begin at 6pm. and racing at 7:30.
