Ideal Weather Brings Out Record Crowd, Car Count!

A season high Perfection Auto Body legend cars were here from four
states as local driver and division sponsor Clayton Kruse of Burlington won his second 20
lap feature of the year.Chad Phillips from Porter, IN. won the dash his heat and finished
first in the 12 lap sport truck feature in a very tight contest and Tim Toussaint of
McHenry,IL. won the 20 lap super mini cup feature.
New comer Nathan Matz moved in front of the twenty two car BIC feature for the first five
laps before Nick Kalteis got by.Chris Beine was right on Matz bumper and then the new
leader before Jeff Bremer moved up to runner up spot.Before it was over Jeff Braum
got past Beine as Matz dropped out due to problems. For that last lap Kalteis held his
line with Bremer Baum and Beine under a blanket.2000 champion Bob Koch and Tony
Burrafato rounded out the top six.
Steve Maciosek and Boyd Calvert dueled for the lead of the millennium feature with Calvert
taking the upper hand on lap three. It looked like that was the way it would end But with
three laps to go Calvert got wide and Kenny Joosten moved under him and captured his first
win. A white flag incident between Mark Hartline and Russ Blakley ended the race one lap
early as officals put those two drivers to the end of the feature finish. Another rookie
Joshua Shaw was second with point leader Paul Dygon right along side of him for
third.Denny Norton Jr. was fourth and Calvert took fifth.
Herman Greinig paced the legends feature from his outside pole starting berth.Brad Popp
took three laps to get by the leader and then moved to a small margin lead.Lyle Kuklinski
spun and Texas driver Bret Shisler headed to the pit on that caution.Under way Dave Cooter
went into pits with problems while running tenth.
It took Clayton Kruse three laps to caught the leader as the remainder of the race went
non stop.Kruse held on to win the event over Popp, quick qualifier Curt Gnatzig, Dean
Fischer, first timer Josh Schoenick, and Bryan Cataldi.
Lee Morrison led the opening lap of the mini modified feature before Ken Johnson flew by.
The race was behind the leader as the father and son of Hermie and point leader Jeff
Schultz displayed a see saw dicing battle for the runner up spot. Lapped traffic played
into the factor as first Jeff got caught behind one of the cars not moving down as the
leader went by. Later Hermie Schultz nearly got under Johnson but another lapped car
nearly took him out of the event. After that incident Johnson moved to a clear cut win
over Hermie and Jeff Schultz, Bill Trusky, Roy Morrison, and Mike VanHouten.
Chad Ross then defending champion Vincent Merry held the feature for the
sport trucks before Chad Phillips moved by on lap eight for the win over over Ross and
Merry.
It was a wire to wire win for Tim Toussaint, Richard Dawson and Brian Baldygn were next in
the Mini-Cup feature.
Friday night July 12th. marks the return of two open wheel divisions as the Fromula Indy
cars and the Rascal Outlaws join the other divisions. Time trials are at 6pm. first race
at 7:30pm sharp.
