Record Crowd, Record Car Count at LGR!

Feature races were won by Rob Hunt in the BIC 15 lap feature. Bart
Reinen of Jefferson in his first appearance of the season in the millennium late models 20
lap feature. Ken Johnson of Paddock Lake the defending champion in the Herb’s mini
modified 15 lap feature the dash and fast time for a clean sweep. Clayon Kruse of
Burlington won his second Perfection Auto Body 20 lap feature. Richard Dawson of Park
Forest,IL. in the first appearance of the super mini cup cars and Chad Davidson won the
Great Lakes Allison legacy series point feature for 20 laps.
Bart Reinen charged off the outside pole starting position and held back numerous
challenges from Mike Carpenter to win the event wire to wire.Russ Blakeley was third as
the top third were under a blanket across the line. Jeff Goodwin was fourth Tommy Neveso
was fifth and point leader Paul Dygon sixth as the race finished within a few inches of
each other in an extremely close contest.
Steve Eichted held onto the lead of BIC feature for four laps before Rob Hunt moved by and
won the race over Mike Carpenter Jr. a new driver who won one of three semi’s to get
into this race then started last in the twenty car field.Greg Sheldon was fourth with
Randy Schneider and Jeff Baum rounding out the top six.
Even a lap seven caution could not stop Clayton Kruse who started mid pack and then went
on to win the event just ahead of quick timer Curt Gnatzig.Granzig was part of that
caution and had to start at the rear for the second time tonight.Rob Duffek was third
Steve Licht fifth and Lyle Kuklinski in the legends feature for 20 laps.
Bill Trusky held on the lead of the mini modified feature for three laps before Ken
Johnson flew by then winning the race.Trusky stayed ahead of point leader Jeff Schultz,
Hermie Schultz and Mike Van Houten.
This coming Friday night will be the regular Saturday night show one night earlier. The
Budweiser super late models Performance Unlimited sportsman BIC cars and sport truck will
all be on the card. Time trials begin at 6pm. racing at 7:30pm.
