First Friday Night Rain Out at LGR!

June 14, 2002; Lake Geneva, WI. - A sudden down pour forced officials to cancel the weekly Friday night family fun night race program at Lake Geneva Raceway. There were nearly 150 race cars ready to race when heavy rain came through the area at 5:50 pm. After reviewing the weather service stating that another round of storms were around one hour away Kevin Dawson owner of the raceway said that there would be no reason to make the drivers dry the track to just see it rain again.

This was the first rainout of the season for this program which runs through August 30th.

Point leaders in the 5 weekly divisions include Nick Kalteis of Lake Villa,Illinois in the Anchor towing Basic International cars.In the Herb’s mini modifieds Jeff Schultz of Silver Lake a third generation driver.The S&P Motorsports millennium late models Paul Dygon of racine leads that group.The Perfection Auto Body Legend cars brings Curt Gnatzig of Hartford to the top and in the sport trucks Chad Ross of Kenosha Is their point leader.

Coming up this week at LGR there will be a District 16 moto cross program on Sunday June 16th. at 10 am. The top regional and local riders will compete on the stadium dirt course. Over 500 riders are expected. Monday night June 17th. there will the first of three District 27-A Lions Club races. There will be clubs from all over southeastern Wisconsin competing in one of four divisions to race.Sportsman, hobby stocks, challengers and the new “little stocks” race for the funds for local Lions Clubs. This is the 32nd. year that LGR donates the facility for this worthy cause. Time trials begin at 6pm. First race is slated for 7pm.

Next Friday night the weekly oval track show will witness the first appearance of the season for the Great Lakes Allison legacy series with driver from 5 states expected.Also in their first appearance of the year the super mini cups will be here along with four other divisions.

Time trials have moved up to 6 pm. because of the large field of race cars weekly. First first race will be at 7:30 pm.
