Krause On Top In Legends Feature at LGR!

May 31, 2002; Lake Geneva, WI. - 2002 Summer arrived in Southeastern Wisconsin early but after last weeks unbearable temperatures the exceptional weather was welcomed with the best crowd of the season came out for the family fun night racing at Lake Geneva Raceway.

Bill Trucky (#72) won his first ever mini- modified feature at Lake Geneva Friday.

Clayton Kruse owner of Perfection Auto Body the groups sponsor won the 20 lap legend feature. The Herb’s mini modified feature went to Bill Trusky of Silver Lake his first career win. 2000 Basic International champion Bob Koch of Crystal Lake,IL. won the 15 lap feature. Jeff Goodwin from Kenosha won the millennium late model feature with his first win of season this means there has been a different winner each night. Chad Ross of Wadsworth,IL. took a clean sweep of the Sideline Motorsports races and Vern Brown of Wanakee won the Formula Indy Racing Association Pro class 20 lap feature.

Brad Popp moved in front of the legends feature at the get go with Steve Lecht and Robb Duuek next. On lap four a tangle with Larry Will and fast timer Curt Gnatzig stopped the action for the only time in this race. Underway Popp jumped back in front with Lyle Kuklinski in hot pursuit. On lap eight Clayton Kruse moved in on Popp after a lengthy battle with Duffek then worked over the leader before moving in front.

With just afew laps to go Lecht crept into second but time ran out for any serious challenge but fell short as laps were completed. Kruse guilded to the victory over Lecht Kuklinski Garrett Will and quick qualifier Herman Greinig who had got caught in that lap 3 incident.

The non stop mini modified feature brought Bill Trusky to the front after a three   deep battle ensued the first green.Joe Miller looked like he’d give the leader a challenge on lap ten. This never happened with Jeff Schultz nipping Miller at the wire as Trusky won the event.Duck Wack in the championship car was fourth with Hermie Schultz next.

Point leader Paul Dygon led the first eleven laps of the millennium feature before getting too wide then losing the lead to Jeff Goodwin the winner. Tommy Nevoso fast timer in this close group.Scott Patrick was on his side for third with Shawn Connelly and Dygon rounding out the top five.

Chad Ross wasted little time as he took the lead in the Sport Truck feature on lap eight finishing just ahead of Bill Olson and Corky Ross in the sport truck feature.

Bob Koch took the lead of the wild BIC feature on lap twelve but had Randy Schneider at his side of this close race.Rob Hunt was fourth and Dan Giannotti fifth. Earlier defending champion Todd Booker in the Tony Burrafato mount broke his own one lap qualifying record with a time of 20.800 seconds.

Neal Gillentine who earlier won his heat after taking fast time looked like a sure winner but a broken drive chain put him on the infield as veteran Vern Brown won the 20 lap Formula Indy feature.

Next Friday night the open wheel Rascal Outlaws are back for their second appearance of   the season along with the regular five divisions.Time trials begin at 6:30 pm The first race at 7:30 pm sharp. Moto cross racing continues on the stadium dirt course at 8 pm.
