Story book win for Rodgers in "No Bull Series" feature! By Dale Erdmann

August 11, 2001; Lake Geneva, WI. -  It was another great night for racing as the 5 Star Stock Car Bodies "No Bull" triple crown series came back for their second show at Lake Geneva Raceway Saturday. This time Randy Rodgers of Lake Geneva won the 50 lap feature for the super late model cars and came home with $1000 for his last lap at the wire win. Woodward transportation Company of Racine was the nights sponsor. Another Lake Geneva driver second year racer Rob Summers won his second 25 lap McHenry Limo super stock feature. Because the Sideline motorsports sport trucks ran tonight Chad Phillips from Porter, IN. came all the way up and won his second feature of the season.Todd Booker of nearby Hebron,IL. won the “leader picks the track” 20 lap feature for the special appearance of the Basic International cars.

Randy Rodgers (#14) scored a clean sweep including a win in the 50-lap super late model feature Saturday night at Lake Geneva Raceway. Rob Summers (#38) topped Lake Geneva's super stock main event Saturday. Junior Fan Alex Jensen joined him in victory lane. The LGR Saturday sport truck feature was taken by Chad Phillips (#14).

Dicing for positions Prestay moved inside Mueller and to the outside of the leader then out front on lap nine.Wayne Freimund worked on Mueller then Lorenz starting on lap eleven.Landry Potter brought out the next caution on lap seventeen for his spin in turn four. With the next green Prestay moved to a three car advantage with Freimund next.Everyone brake checked each other on lap twenty one as Kent Burkoth pinched Denny Hiffman off coming out of turn two.

Mueller was on the move slipping past Freimund after a lengthy battle with Lorenz two laps earlier but another caution appeared after a rare Patnode spin after contact with Potter.When the green came back out Mueller charged the leader coming along side but the crafty Prestay held the lead.On lap twenty nine Burkoth and Corso tangled stopping the event one more time.One more lap under green and Lorenz slowed causing a chain reaction melee.Brian Ulrich got the most damage from that incident and another caution ensued.

Then came lap thirty one and the caution appeared for get together of Burkoth, Corso, Ron Stoehr, Joe Fischer, and Jerry Cowan. With these three laps and three caution points Mueller’s hopes of a win were over as he headed to the pit area with over heating problems. After a lengthy delay the green finally came out with Prestay still in command. Jamie Wallace was now second with Freimund Randy Rodgers and Potter in tight formation.

By lap thrity five the fight for the top spot was intense with Prestay leading the next four laps before Wallace inched ahead. It took Rodgers another two laps to wrestle second from Prestay and his sights were set on Wallace. By lap forty five there was a dead heat for the lead a final caution spoiled the great race as Freimund and Billy Baumeister tangled.Wallace grabbed the lead again when the green came back out as Potter slipped past Rodgers.

Potter spun with three laps to go but moved to the infield so thie race could finish even thou he was out of the running. Wallace looked like a sure winner until they came down into turn three and he drifted out of four due to water on the track. Rodgers held the inside and cruised to the win.Wallace recovered for second with Patnode third Prestay fourth and Burkoth fifth in this barn burner event.

Rookie Jack Clark moved in front of the twenty car field of the super stock main event with Tom Fay along side AJ Dunn wanted that front spot but the side by side race kept him at bay. Another rookie Mike Gunderson was running with Dunn as Rob Summers was fifth. Dunn’s patience paid off as he moved into second on lap three.Still looking like the opening lap it took Adam Regnier sometime to get past Fay who was fading on lap nine.

Clark was driving the best race of his short career as Summers and Dunn diced for second beginning with lap ten. The first caution came out on lap thirteen when Greg Peterson and Fay tangled. Just as the green reappeared Summers charged in front with Dunn following quickly. Clark maintained third for three more laps before John Janssen moved around the former leader. Things got close at the top with just six laps to go when Janssen and Pete Olson joined Summers who was three lengths ahead.

Trevor Mock and Doug Peterson spun with just five laps to go and the final caution came one that Summers didn’t want to see as his lead disappeared. On the restart Janssen thought he’d put the pressure on but Olson was quicker to the draw and the final four laps were too close to call.Summers won the event just ahead of Olson Janssen took third with Regnier along side for fourth and Dave Melahn was fifth.

Chad Phillips took the lead on lap four from earlier leader Kurt Gurtowski and held on to win the sport truck feature ahead of fast time qualifier Bill Olson Chad Ross Tom Ross and Jamie Everett.

The BIC feature was a zany event as the leader was allowed to run the track he picked if they were leading in turn one of this non stop feature. James Quest held the top spot for two laps before Rob Schiebel charged in front.Todd Booker in a brand new car moved around him on lap eight and went on to win the race over Schiebel Nick Kalteis Matt Bushnell and Bill Webb in another good race.

This coming Saturday night marks the final No Bull Triple crown series event for the super lates. The weekly sponsor will be Burlington Farmer's Co-op as the super stocks and the sportsman will also be here. The junior fan club coin grab will be held for children under 12 years of age.Time trials begin at 6 pm. races at 7:30 sharp. On Sunday afternoon district sixteen point series moto cross will be here at 12 noon some 500 riders are expected.The Lions Club will race on Monday evening with time trials at 6 pm. races at 7 pm. for a busy schedule this weekend.
