Todd Booker of Hebron,IL., the Basic International Car point leader came with his 1990 Honda CRX winning the dash and the 20 lap feature,that ran first on the quarter mile and finished the last 10 laps on the third. Booker left without his car due to the claim rule,but went home with $500 after the bidding was completed. Booker told the crowd earlier“I’ve got $100 in this car and the cost of the racing seat,this is the division to race in if you want to have fun”.

Lyle Kuklinski busted out front of the legends feature with Al Smith and Clayton Kruse close behind. The field was tight but Kruse looked like he was on a rail after starting second last row inside and quickly scooting out front on lap four. The race was far from over as Curt Gnatzig shot into second two laps later and gave the eventual winner a run for his money. Kruse was the winner with Gnatzig,Tom Pirkel,Brad Popp and Smith next.

Joe Miller paced the field in the mini modified feature with Rich Musgrave, Duck Wack and Bill Trusky next. The top threesome diced and battle for the front spot,with Musgrave taking over on lap three. But Miller would have no part of being second moving back in front for the next three laps. Then It was Musgrave back on top at the half way point. The side by side show was all the way to the back as the next lap Miller and Musgrave were a dead heat for first.

With the five lap signal given Miller was again out front. One lap later Glen Verneeze and Mike Van Houten slipped past Musgrave with Johnson fourth with three laps to go. It would be a wild one lap dash as Johnson crept to the outside of the racing threesome. Coiming out of turn two Johnson inched ahead and went on to win over Miller,Verneeze,Van Houten and Musgrave.

The BIC feature wasn’t one turn old when the room ran out as everyone couldn’t make it through the gate on the old track. A complete restart brought a better second try as Nick Estes slipped in front, with Dan Giannotti, Randy Schneider who had fast time and 65 year old Walt Leppard next. Giannotti moved ahead of the other nineteen cars on lap four with Schneider chasing him.Estes had fallen to third with Dale Gustum along side.Schneider was next to take over the lead holding it until the caution came out to switch to the big track.

Once on the fast surface Giannotti charged past Schneider quickly,Todd Booker next. Three laps later Booker made short work of his competition with Estes second. Those final six laps were great as Booker won the event over Estes, Jeff Baum the quick time qualifier,Giannotti and Schneider in what was a non stop race if the track switching would have not occurred.

Next Friday night the open wheel action of the Formula Indy racing Association cars and the sport trucks join the regular divisions with racing at 7:30,time trials begin at 6:00 pm. The motocross weekly program takes place on the stadium dirt course at 8 pm.
