Palmyra driver Blakley wins Millennium feature!

June 22, 2001; Lake Geneva, WI. Russ Blakley of Palmyra won the 15 lap millennium late model feature in front of the hometown fans on Palmyra night Friday night at Lake Geneva Raceway. Ken Johnson of Park Ridge, IL. won his second 15 lap Herb’s mini modified in a row.

Ken Johnson (#2) won his second straight Mini-Modified main event.

Veteran driver Wally Reitz of McHenry, Illinois won his first 20 lap Formula Indy feature in sometime. Point leader Al Smith of Rockford IL. won the 20 lap Perfection Auto Body Legends feature. Tom Ross of Wadsworth,IL. won the 12 lap Sideline Motorsports feature and Jeff Baum of Antioch,IL. won the 20 lap Basic International car feature.

Chris Matters dropped out of the millennium feature as the field came under power with problems. Rick Corso moved in front of the field for just two laps before he spun bringing out the caution. This gave Russ Blakley a clear open field ahead as the green came out again.

Quickly fast timer Tommy Novoso and Luke Westenberg charged up the middle of the field. First nighter Ron Rhode spun on lap six, but no caution was needed. Blakley went on to lap Rhode and easily won the event. Westenberg claimed second with Corso recovering for third.

Glen Verneeze paced the field of the mini modified feature as Duck Wack remained second. Smoothly running through the pack Ken Johnson was on a mission steaming out front by lap eight. It was a close event with Johnson just in front of Rich Musgrave, Joe Miller, Verneeze and Jeff Schultz.

Wally Reitz needed just two laps to move in front of the field and score the victory in the Formula Indy feature. Vern Brown finished second with Tony Wallace, Neil Gillentine and Jim Baas completing  the top five.

This coming Friday night the Saturday night cars will have their mid season championship race. The super late models, Performance unlimited sportsman, BIC cars and sideline motorsports sport Trucks on the card. There will be no increase in admission prices with Bennett Enterprizes sponsoring  The show. The 40 lap super late model feature with have a $1000 to win on the race.Time trials begin at 6 pm. racing at 7:30 sharp.

A weekend pass for both nights will be available for purchase up until race time for just $20 for adults $10 for juniors 8 to 14. If there is an adult spectator purchase Children under 8 are free..
