Lake Geneva Raceway readies for NASCAR Weekend!

June 22, 2001; Lake Geneva, WI. The last weekend in June will be a big one at Lake Geneva Raceway as the NASCAR touring stars head to the one third mile paved banked oval. The Re/Max challenge series  makes their annual appearance on June 30th.

The 150 feature race honors our 1995 champion the late Al Schill Jr.who the main event is named after. A field of over 35 super late model drivers from around the Midwest will be here.Series point leader Steve Carlson won the 1999 feature and Al Schill won the emotional 2000 feature race.Schill a multi time champion here is not a regular ReMax series runner but he will be after another win in the same car he used in last race. The race car is now owned by Pete Moore and was originally the Rich Hofey mount. Brian Hoppe of Madison broke the streak Carlson created ,after his win at Madison June 16th. Eddie Hoffman is another driver who knows how to race here will be another driver to watch.

The LGR regular super stocks will be the second division with this division racing only racing on Saturday night. Jack Rubach out of Burlington was the point leader of this thirty plus division. Rubach holds the one lap qualifying mark and this second year driver has had fast time all but opening night .

On Friday night June 29th. A special race show sponsored by Bennett Enterprizes will take place featuring the regular LGR super late models, performance unlimited sportsman, sideline motorsports sport trucks and BIC cars in their mid season championship races.

A weekend pass for the spectator gate is only $20 for an adult and juniors 8 years of age to 14 just $10. Children under 8 are still free with an adult admission purchase. It is available until race time on Friday June 29th. Gates will open at 5 pm. The raceway office phone is 262-248-8566.
