record broken at Lake Geneva Raceway!

Frank Murray grabbed the lead at the offset of the BIC feature
with John Donaldson and Todd Booker next.Booker who started nineth in the field was
getting the breaks he needed, taking over the top spot within six laps. A caution came out
just after the lead changed but Booker never lost the momentum with John Day now on his
tail.From lap eight to lap twelve Jeff Baum running third tried to gain a spot but Day
wasn’t going to let that happen.
With just two laps to go the fight for second got to be too much as two lapped cars nearly
took out those positions. Booker survived the melee with Baum stealing second, Day held
onto third with point leader Chris Koleno Sr. fourth and Dan Giannotti fifth, in a very
close contest.
Tommy Nevoso and Russ Blakley dueled for the lead the first six laps
before Nevoso was clearly took command of the top spot . Then on lap nine Blakley scooted
around the leader and this went back and forth two more laps before Nevoso looked like it
would be his first feature of the season. But when starter Dave Rex Jr. gave the five laps
to go signal Blakley regain the lead. The win was Blakley’s with Nevoso feeling the
pressure from last weeks feature winner Rick Corso, Luke Westenberg was next with Chris
Matters fifth.
Herman Grenig moved from his outside pole starting spot and into the lead as the green
flag appeared in the legend main event. Chris Carnes who started second row inside pulled
off a good move and advanced to second on lap two. By lap eight Clayton Kruse slipped past
DA Bob Jambois and Carnes knew he had a challenge. Lap ten brought a change to the runner
up spot as Kruse was on a mission.
The next lap around Kruse was the new leader with Grenig and Gary LaMonte is a dead heat.
Lyle Kuklinski spun on lap twelve with the first caution out for this fast paced event.
Two laps later Kruse broke something and his hopes for a victory went up in a caution
period. LaMonte had just scurried into second before that problem for the leader. The
final laps were LaMonte’s to win or lose and the leader was up to the challenge.
Grenig ended up spot with Curt Gnatzig nipping point leader Al Smith for third. Carnes
maintained his leverage for a fifth place finish.
The next few weeks have special slated for Friday nights, the Herb’s mini modifieds
return after one week off. The BIC cars, legends, sport trucks will have the Formula Indy
open wheel group here. The millennium late models have put out a challenge. The feature
will have $500 on the line for the win. Andy Wendt a veteran Watertown driver was
the first to say he’d be here.
It will also be Palmyra night, as many millennium drivers come from
this town. With proper ID all residents will be admitted free to the grandstand area to
view the races. Time trials begin at 6pm. Racing at 7:30 sharp. The raceway is third mile
paved banked oval. An open practice for any type of race cars is every Wednesday at 1 pm.
