LGR 2000 Season Opener on April 8th!

March 15, 2000; Lake Geneva, WI. For the second season in a row, weekly Saturday night racing will begin on a sad note. On March 6th. popular local super late model driver Jim Kjellander was killed in an automobile accident, just north of Elkhorn.

Kjellander just 37 years old, ran the red, white and blue number 55 in the divisions he raced here. In his hometown of Twin Lakes, just East of the raceway, Jim had a large following of race fans. Jim also ran KJ Auto Body.

Right now the raceway is at the Journal/Sentinel Sport show through March 19th. in Milwaukee. Then on March 24,25, and 26th. the track will be represented at the Original Outlet Mall, just West of Kenosha, Wisconsin at I 94 and Highway 50. The event is the BARS "Let's go racing" motorsports show.

Lake Geneva Raceway's 35th season of stock car racing begins, Saturday night April 8th. Opening night will see the super late models, McHenry Limo super stocks and the Performance Unlimited sportsman cars in action. Then for the next 26 weeks, the longest season of racing takes place.

Time trials will be at 6pm. racing at 7:30pm. sharp. The show opening night will include features and dash events, along with a special fan autograph session. Admission for the 2000 season for all regular shows is just $9 for anyone 15 years of age and up. Juniors ages 8 to 14 are admitted for $5 and children under 8 years of age are admitted FREE with an adult ticket purchase. Parking will remain free and there is a family section in the spectator grandstand can be used by anyone who does not smoke and does not consume alcohol.
