Mark Simonsen and Paul Loppnow fought for that top spot, in the Super Late Model feature, as the double greens appeared. Loppnow finally controlled the top spot on lap three, with Simonsen, Brad Durbin, Al Schill, Denny Hiffman, Joe Fisher and Landry Potter in a tight formation behind him. Durbin who started in the second row inside, captured second on lap six. A caution followed on lap seven, as Hiffman and Schill got together. Just as the green was to reappear, Potter's rear end broke, stopping the race again. When the green came back out, Durbin went around Loppnow, who was now on the bottom of the track, watching the field get around him. On lap thirteen Loppnow tried to move into the upper groove, but suddenly lost it, spinning into turn three. Sixth place Jamie Artelt had to stop, as Loppnow sat there, with the caution appearing one more time. There was a great race behind the top two, as Durbin scored a big victory, Simonsen who just came back three weeks ago, was second, Kent Burkoth, Hiffman, Eddie May in his first appearance of the season, Jamie Wallace, who had fast time was sixth, Schill and Mark Hartline rounded out the top eight.
In the super stock feature, Adam Regnier and Jeff Lorenz tangled before the race ever started. This caused a complete restart. Mike Bell from his pole starting position moved in front of Rick Corso, 1999 Mid American champion in Greg Peterson's mount next. John Maki Jr. inched along side Corso, with Greg Janutka, Paul Konieczny and Greg Metres next. It was a side by side battle for second, as Maki got around Corso after a three lap fight. Somehow Corso got inside both Bell and Maki, moving in front on lap six. One lap later Maki forged in front, with these two dicing for the lead the next three rounds. On lap ten, Maki was clearly the leader. As the back pack traffic tried to move forward. Corso used every bit of power to work on the leader, but that didn't faze Maki. Janutka was right on Corso's bumper, waiting for an opportunity to move forward. On lap fourteen Tom Fay and Jack Rubach tangled stopping this great race. Maki didn't wait for anyone, grabbing that top spot, as the green reappeared. Corso got his second wind on lap nineteen, as the front runners went three deep and then a mistake happened. This brought out a caution on lap twenty, after John Janssen the fast time qualifier got together with Maki. Corso now had to contend with Jerry Cowan who had smoothly worked his may to the front, after starting eighth row inside. There was no room for anymore mistakes, as the top nine were all within striking distance of Corso. With Just three laps to go, starter Dave Rex Jr. gave Corso the black flag for using too much of the track. Regnier used that tight inside groove to pull off a slick move and winning the event. Cowan who used that same move two weeks ago was second. Doug Peterson , Mike Kooi, Janutka, Jeremy Tess, Mertes and Bell were under a blanket for a thrilling finish. The sportsman feature was a rocky road from start to finish. Monty Coffman moved in front of the field, with Ken Smart, LeRoy Potter and Zac Deeringer in a tight cluster. Joshua Shaw spun bringing the race to a halt. Two laps later Potter and Deeringer spun, stopping the race one more time. Eric Roberts was now the leader scooting past Coffman, who spun four laps later, stopping the race again. Brian Baker used the inside to pressure Roberts for that lead, as Rybuck waited for a mistake. It came just two laps later, with Baker and Roberts tangling. Rybuck was non the leader, hoping to win two in a row. Terry Crowell spun on lap sixteen, bringing this intense pace to another halt. Too laps later a multi car crash, involving Coffman, Shawn Utphall, Brian Baker, Crowell and Ken Smart. This ended Baker's quest for the front, as the green/white/checkered situation was there. Poritz moved under Rybuck, as the two diced for that popular top spot. Coming for the checkered Rybuck got very wide dashing his hopes to move back in front. Mike Monroe was right there to take it away, as Poritz won the race. Mike Monroe was inches away, in second. Rybuck recovered for third. Deeringer, Potter, Roberts, Jerry Freeman and Coffman finished out the top eight positions. One on one racing is on the card next week, along with the sportsman cars again.
