LGR ready for O' Doul's October Classic Weekend!

September 25, 2000; Lake Geneva, WI. - Billed as the largest three day race program in the Midwest, the one third mile paved banked oval of Lake Geneva Raceway will be ready this coming weekend for up to 400 race drivers from any area and regional race tracks.

On Friday Spetember 29th, the small car world championship will bring many different divisions for the first night of racing. The regular groups that have been here this year will be ready to take on the visiting drivers. The mini mdifieds will hold their season championship, as defending champion Ken Johnson is locked into a close battle with Duck Wack.

Two new divers will be coming, after recent purchases of cars. Tommy Sexton Jr. will be back in the number 8 Rosemann machine. Sexton has raced sprint cars in recent years, along with the mini modifieds. The first appearance of the season for the Northern Michigan mini indy cars, has a big interest, as they have turned the oval, at near record times, the fastest of any cars that race here. The FIRA Formula Indy cars from their own association will bring another large group of open wheel cars to the show. The Wisconsin/Illinois Dwarf Cars will be another group running for championship points. The Rascal Outlaw cars will bring in more open wheel action. The legend cars will take on the Northern Wisconsin and Minnosota drivers. The Wisconsin Allison legacy cars will be led by two time champion Gary Krueger, who raced on the old quarter mile track, in late models. The 4 cylinder cars from all over should produce a large field and the sport trucks that ran here for the last eleven years are headed by champion James Olson. Time trials begin at 6 pm. racing at 7:30pm sharp.

On Saturday and Sunday the 30th. of September and October race fans will witness lots of Super Late Model action, along with Limited Late Models, McLeod USA Mid American cars, Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks, Super Stocks, BIC cars, Enduro cars, and the Wisconsin Sport Trucks, snowmobile powered mini-trucks which compete at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna. Time trials begin at 1 pm. racing at 6pm. on Saturday. On Sunday over 350 laps of feature action begin at 1 pm. along the added events to top off an afternoon of racing.

The bargain priced weekend pass is just $25 for adult spectators. Juniors are only $12. Under 8 are free with any adult purchase. Nightly tickets will be available. The raceway is located just southeast of Lake Geneva,Wisconsin. The phone number for additional information is
