Back in victory lane! Billy Skinner (#47) topped the super late model feature at Lake Geneva Raceway Saturday. Joining him in victory lane were Junior Fan Brandon Buffa and Hi Liter Graphics reps. Perry Hintz and Sarah Isaccson.

The race went non stop, as Kent Burkoth holds a slim seventy point advantage, with just one month to go for regular points. Racing will continue through October 7th. with his second straight 25 lap super stock feature, that also went non stop, Adam Regnier from McHenry,IL. holds the lead by seventy points also, after another great win Monty Coffman from Barrington,IL. won his first career feature, since moving from Wisconsin Allison legacy series afew years back, by taking the 20 lap sportsman main event, that race had only one caution point. Defending champion, Scott Poritz holds a narrow 55 point lead.

Don Collins came out front, as the double greens appeared to start the Super Late Model feature. Jerry Mueller was second, with Joe Fischer, Al Schill, Billy Baumeister and Shane Bishop not too far behind. By lap five, Collins was far ahead of the pack, with Fischer and Mueller side by side for second. Within afew laps Fischer inched his way into second, with Collins now just in front of the cluster behind him.

First through fourteenth were so tight, that Collins could not afford any mistakes, on lap thirteen Fischer worked his way inside the leader. The next lap was a dead heat for that top spot. Lap fifteen, there was a new leader as Fischer took the top position.. Now there were lots of cars at the top, but Fischer remained in front by just a small margin. Behind Collins, Shane Bishop and Schill were in a very heated battle.

Schill finally worked free of his shadow, but then Bill Skinner was inside Bishop, with Billy Baumeister and Mueller racing two deep. Entering lap twenty three, Skinner was now inside Schill, with Bishop, Landry Potter, Baumeister and point leader Kent Burkoth too close to call. With only six laps to go, Collins could feel the pressure from Schill and Skinner.

Skinner inched in front of Schill and Collins, then coming off turn four, Fischer gave his challengers just enough room to stick their noses inside the top runner. That was all it took, with Skinner, then Schill, and Collins moving by. Four laps later, the crowd was on their feet for the checkered flag, with Skinner picking up his first win of the year. Schill, and Collins were next, as Potter nipped Fischer at the wire and fast qualifier Randy Rodgers sixth. It was a great race, free of cautions.

Rookie Paul Konieczny paced the first five laps of the twenty car super stock feature. Tom Fay and Doug Peterson made the perfect three deep situation, then tied for the lead on lap six, before Peterson secured that top spot for himself, one lap later. Jack Rubach, Adam Regnier, Dan Huber and Scott Scholl, also got under Konieczny, with the field still side by side, or three deep if any changes were to occur. If there would be a hole, Regnier could find it and that's what happened on lap nine, as Rubach and the leader would find out.

Regnier gained that top spot on lap ten, with everyone still fighting for other positions, the new leader was walking away from the pack. It was a scorer's nightmare behind, but the crowd was watching a very close race, behind the leader.

Jeff Lorenz crept past Fay on lap thirteen, with Rubach and Huber side by side in front on him. Two laps later it was a three deep battle for fourth, as Lorenz joined the heap. On lap sixteen, there was a six way circle that kept changed positions.

With just seven laps to go, Lorenz and Huber broke out of this cluster. With Regnier way out front and Peterson next. Jerry Cowan somehow got through that circle and into a top five position.

In the race only two cars would be lapped, but they would be playing a factor on that finish, during lap twenty three. Lorenz got around Peterson during that issue and then with the white flag out, everyone up front would try to gain a spot. At the wire with the checkered flag displayed, Regnier made it two in a row, Lorenz was second with Peterson, Cowan, Huber and Rubach under a blanket.

Monty Coffman (#2) won his first sportman feature in two years at Lake Geneva Saturday. Jr. Fan Brandon Buffa and Hi Liter Graphics reps. Perry Hintz and Sarah Isaccson helped Coffman celebrate.

Rookie driver and former super stock champion Zac Deeringer moved out front of the field, during lap one of the sportsman feature. Quickly Monty Coffman slipped into second, with Dan Erikson and the first appearance of Denny Norton Jr. For the next twelve laps Deeringer and Coffman would dice for the lead, as Kevin Rybuck moved into third on lap ten.

Terry Crowell another first year driver stopped the race on lap sixteen, wiping out a perfect caution free feature presentation. On the restart, Coffman would take firm command of the situation and come home to his first victory four laps later. Rybuck nipped Deeringer for second, with Brian Baker, Erikson and Jerry Freeman completing the top six.

The raceway will be very busy this Labor Day weekend. On Saturday night, fans will be treated to the annual gauntlet race, as Promoter Kevin Dawson and starter Dave Rex Jr. will be in the lead car, as drivers try to take them out of the event. The sportsman join the super late models and super stocks on the program. Time trials begin at 6 pm. racing at 7:30 pm sharp.
