July
14, 2000; Lake Geneva, WI. - The
second largest crowd of the season came out for the weekly Friday night "Fun
night" race program at Lake Geneva Raceway. After numerous requests officals have
added one on one racing to all remaining Friday night shows. Mike Monroe of Pell Lake, who
races sportsman cars here on many Saturday nights, won both the millennium race series
feature and the BIC feature. Duck Wack of Paddock Lake won his first mini modified feature
of the season. Jeff Way of Burlington won the legend cars feature and Jim Veugeler of
Crystal Lake, Illinois continued his winning ways here, with a clean sweep of the Rascal
outlaws events.
Within a bat of the eye, Duck Wack went from his fourthw row starting position in the
lead of the mini modified feature. Jeff Schultz and Ken Johnson diced for second the next
fourteen laps. That last lap brought everyone to their feet, as it was a three deep show
for that top spot. Wack nipped Johnson,wNho nipped Schultz, with Ed Stoddard, Rich
Musgrave, Lee Morrison, Hermie Schultz and Mike Hennessy extremely close.
It took Jim Veugeler just six laps to move in front of the field, with Chris Carlson
chasing him all the way to victory. Dave Colletti was third, with Butch Torkelson, Kip
Novotny and John Benkert rounding out the top six.
Jeff Way led all twenty laps of the legend feature, Gary Baltz was second, with Brad
Popp, Ron Stoch, Bob Jambois the DA of Kenosha County next and Larry Nelson sixth.
Randy Schneider moved in front of the twenty car BIC field, before Mike Monroe slipped
in front on lap eight. It wasn't even close but at the wire, Ray Lehor was second, with
Schneider, Bob Koch, Todd Booker and Steve Nethaway completing the top six.
Jerry Parker led just one lap of the millennium race series feature before Mike Monroe
shot by. It wasn't an easy win for Monroe, as he was caught in a see-saw battle with Luke
Westenbeerg who managed a second, with Russ Blakley third, Jeff Goodwin fourth, Bob Giers
fifth and Parker.
This Friday night the BIC cars and Millennium race series / Jefferson late models will
be joined by the mini modifieds, sport trucks, Wisconsin Allison legacy series and one on
one racing.
