Once Landry Potter (#99) got out front this evening he refused to give up the lead and wound up with a Super Late Model victory!

From his pole starting spot, Landry Potter moved in front of the field, at the drop of the double greens in Super Late Model action. Russ Blakley, Mark Hartline and Eddie May were next. On lap eight, point leader Brad Durbin and Hartline tangled, bringing this race to a halt.

Before the whole field saw the next green, Jamie Artelt, Durbin, and Hartline were involved in the next caution, causing another delay. Potter finally got to race two more laps before the caution reappeared for a Billy Skinner Jr. and Artelt get together. Then two more false starts created extra delays for a field that wanted to go racing.

Potter now had Kent Burkoth to contend with and Blakley along side this twosome. Larry Los came into play one lap later, as the top grew even tighter. Mid point Garrett Fait and Shane Bishop tangled, stopping a good race one more time. The next fifteen laps were all out racing, as the top spot was contested sometimes three deep. Potter won the race by afew feet, as Burkoth was second. Blakley, Randy Rodgers, Jeff Storm, a recovered Durbin, Los and May completed the top eight.

Rookie Jeremy Olson slipped in front of the super stock feature, with four more first year drivers all wanting that top spot. Rob Summers, Scott Scholl, Tim Bell and Jack Rubach. Right behind this cluster, Tom Fay and Craig Mertes were battling for a higher spot. Summers inched into the lead on lap two, but Olson, then Bell each led a lap, before Olson came back in front, with Rubach working on Summers for second.

Jeff Lorenz (#25) won his first super stock feature at Lake Geneva Saturday. He's joined by his daughter Samantha.

Somehow, Jeff Lorenz got a big break, after starting mid pack. Just as the caution fell, for a spun Jeremy Tess, Lorenz crept into second. This would be the only caution and two laps later Lorenz was the new leader. Rubach scooted under the new leader, but there was no lead change. Olson could feel the pressure of Adam Regnier as the point leader raced inside these two drivers, creating a three deep situation, that everyone made it through.

By lap fifteen, Regnier was challenging the Lorenz, with John Janssen who had turned fast time, right along side Regnier. At the top it was tight, with no one giving an inch. Lorenz finally secured the lead by a length, as the twosome behind him battled for that runner up spot. This continued until lap twenty one, then Regnier's car slowed dramatically, retiring to the pit area , with transmission problems. Rubach pulled off a slick move with only three laps to go, coming off turn four while running seventh, the car drifted wide, then running the wall past the starters stand, never causing a caution and not even losing a spot. Lorenz won the contest, with Janssen, Peterson, Mike Kooi, Fay, Mertes, Rubach and Olson under a blanket for this close race.

The sportsman feature was again filled with caution flags, but some good racing in between. Former Midwest Enduro racer and rookie in this class, Shawn Utphall moved into the lead from his outside starting row position. There was quite the race behind the leader, with Nick Schumacher, grabbing second on lap nine, just as Randy Holmes stalled in turn three.

Baker shot into second on the restart, as Utphall ran a good line out front. Schumacher and Potter put on a show for second, with Baker knocking at the door by lap fifteen. Two laps later Eric Roberts spun, halting the grueling pace. Then not even one more lap was completed and Joshua Shaw spun, stopping the action for the final time. With the green displayed Utphall smoothly raced in front, Schumacher had Baker inside him on lap eighteen. With the white flag out, the leader got through the first three turns with no problems. Then coming off that final corner, the leader gave Baker the room he needed, coming across the line, Baker won the race by three feet, Utphall was second, as Schumacher, Potter, Monty Coffman , fast time qualifier Scott Poritz next with Jerry Freeman and Zac Deeringer eighth.
